Hiking at Island Lake

Please meet at the Trailhead parking lot, first right then second right after you enter the park (see PDF). The park entrance is on Kensington Road, south of the freeway.

We're hiking the 5-6 mile yellow loop counterclockwise. I'll set an easy pace. If you see a bike about to hit us, yell BIKE and step to the right.

Here's a map that shows the parking lot and the trail:

Please call[masked]four-5187 if you get lost. After this we'll head to Jameson's Irish Pub in Brighton.

    I enjoyed the hike but the trails are too conjested with mountain bikers. Having to move aside to allow them to pass became somewhat frustrating. Otherwise an enjoyable hike!!

    I meant to mention that I also tried to call Dylan before I arrived at the park and it said the # I reached was disconnected. ??? As a side note, Dylan was a gracious hike leader and I really appreciated his friendliness.

      Oops, miss-typed my phone number in the event description! FYI my number is also in my meetup profile, so that's another place to look if you're trying to find a meetup that I'm attending.

    It makes me very sad to say that I am unable to hike today. I hope it is not too late for those waiting for a spot to make it. Enjoy the hike!

    This is a lovely place but if it is the trail I'm thinking of there are usually several bikers. Sometimes it is hard to get out of their way without getting into the undergrowth. Poison Ivy allergies BEWARE!

      Thanks for the info. I didn't notice poison ivy last time but will wear my long pants. It helps against the mosquitos as well.

    I live on the backside of the park and hike these trails everyday. You almost need to dedicate one person to bike watch on point. Some of the riders haul ass on the trails.

      I was on a motor boat on Island Lake yesterday, my colleague lives there as well. The Island Lake hike that I once participated in was gorgeous and I am glad that it is being offered again.

    I see this event has hit its max number of attendees, but I'll be doing the trail run beforehand and am planning on sticking around for the hike.

    Thx, Connie, for the heads-up. Helpful information for those of us who may not have been on these trails before (like myself). :+}

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
