Part 3: Foraging Day
-Prerequisites:You must have attended parts 1 and 2 of the Lamboradi Survival Course to attend. A valid fishing license (either restricted or all species) is required to attend. You can purchase a fishing license as long as you have a valid Michigan ID or driver's license from most Meijer, Walmart, Dunhams, or Dick's sporting goods stores. A restricted license (good enough for what we're doing @ this event) is $15.00 not including tax or you can get an all species license for $28 not including tax.
-Objectives: Learn to fish, make fire, and prepare wild edibles including gutting and/or cleaning fish.
This is a team based event with 4 teams of up to 4 people.
-Topics to be covered: Using a flint striker, using a bow drill, using a hand drill, how to fish, how to clean/gut fish.
-What we will do: We will head east of Spring Mill Pond and set up a day camp. Once at the day camp, teams will create a ‘salad’ of wild edibles, build a fire using any variety of primitive methods, and attempt to catch, clean, and cook fish.
-Charge: This event costs $5 to attend. This covers the cost of consumable materials used throughout the course.
