This group is for those interested in taking mindful/meditative walks/hikes on nearby trails, greenways and labyrinths; those interested in combining nature + spirituality + movement; those who might consider nature their religion. The purpose is to come together with like-minded others; and, to learn and share different "ways of walking." Anyone interested in learning or sharing different types of silence-based walking is welcome. Most walks will include setting intention, walking in silence, and stopping for a sitting/standing silence along the way. I have been meditation walking in the Raleigh/Cary area for several years, and feel that the need for this silence, this respite from our day-to-day lives is key for our overall health (spiritual, emotional, mental and physical). Walks are scheduled once-a-month on Sunday mornings.
FYI - (1) No pets or children on walks; (2) Cell phones need to be on sabbatical (silence mode, off or left behind); (3) Please be sure that you have recent experience easily walking the distance and terrain of a specific walk/hike (and in similar weather and temperatures) before signing up; (4) You are responsible for your own health and safety on these walks; and, (5) please bring water on these hikes and a way to carry it so that your hands are free (e.g., backpack, fannypack, strap).
If you are wait listed for a walk, you will automatically be shifted into an available slot if/when someone changes his/her RSVP to not attending - so please check your status the night before and morning of a walk. To date, everyone who has been wait listed had his/her status shifted to "attending."
