The MISkeptics Get Together: Evolution is as complicated as 1-2-3

  • Nov 10, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month we will have a special guest. Joining us will be Dr. Zachary Blount. Dr. Blount is a post-doctoral researcher at the Beacon Center for the Study of Evolution in Action. He is also the lead author on a new paper in the latest edition of Nature.

His paper details how he and his team documented the step-by-step process in which organisms evolve new functions.

Dr. Blount will join us for food, drinks and discussion in what will be a very entertaining and informative event.

I have a feeling this will fill up fast so the sooner you RSVP the better your chance to attend.

Come and join us for lively discussion, drinks, dinner and debate! This is a good event for Skeptics of Michigan to come together and discuss local, national, worldwide items affecting skeptics. All are welcome to listen and participate.

I hope to see you all there!

Really enjoyed it. Learned more about evolution there than I have in any other presentation. Fascinated with the length of the study (started in 1980 if I remember correctly) and that the E Coli samples continue now in two different forms with the one being an evolved form and the original now about 52K generations. Funny too about Behe and company being so irrationally upset about the results.

I learned a lot about mutations from the speaker who was excellent and very patient with our questions. As always, the fellowship was great, too.
