Growing a Native Edible Landscape

The focus of this class will be to encourage participants to grow native edible plants where they live. Our class goals will be: proper identification of native edible plants, cultural appreciation of the role native edible plants, successful propagation of native edible plants, thorough understanding of the ethics of wild native edible harvesting, and conservation importance of native edible plants. Activities for class sessions will include plant walks, discussions, and demonstrations. The motivation for teaching this class is to educate the public about little known native edible plants and to encourage their propagation in gardens within their native range.
