ESP (East St Paul) Minnesota Speculative Fiction Writers

Our topic for discussion will be Determining Your Theme (if you don't, someone else will). But, as Stephen King says, "Good fiction always begins with story and progresses to theme; it almost never begins with theme and progresses to story." We will review basic literary themes and how they can add vision to our writing.

We have decided that going forward, the number of items submitted for critique will be limited to three instead of five. This will allow time for for discussion and sharing experiences. The maximum word count will remain at 10,000 and submissions must be made at least seven days prior to the meeting.
