Introduction

SF/F/H writer living in Hopkins, MN. I've made fifty+ sales. I received an Honorable Mention in The Years Best Fantasy and Horror 2008, was nominated for the James B. Baker Award, and am a 3X Semi-Finalist in the Writers of the Future Contest.

What sort of stories do you write? And if you have anything published, tell us about it (even if it's not SF.) We love to hear about all your successes.

I write mostly urban and rural fantasy, with forays into space opera, magical realism, horror, and retold fairy tales. I have sold stories to Andromeda Spaceways, Beyond Centauri, Fictitious Force, Shiny, and The Harrow, among other magazines.

What brings you to the SF Writers Meetup? Is there anything that you hope the group will do for you?

I get to hang around with other writers! I like meeting all the local writers and SF&F fans in the community. I also like having people to talk to about craft, dealing with rejection, and market news.

how many words do you write in a day and what is the standard.

"It really hinges on the author. King's speed is high, but not freakishly so. Jay Lake churns out around 4,000 words a day on average, but he is ridiculously fast...."

    How to read out loud

"That's all really good advice. I do little things like write myself stage direction on the manuscript I'm reading from. Things like "slow down" and "look up" and "pause" and "breathe" and "need a drink?"..."
