Introduction

Maggie Della Rocca. Golden Valley, MN, completed the 2005 Odyssey Writing Workshop in Manchester, NH, taught by Jeanne Cavelos. I'm really interested in networking with other local genre authors.

What sort of stories do you write? And if you have anything published, tell us about it (even if it's not SF.) We love to hear about all your successes.

I write fantasy and a bit of horror. I have almost completed a novel, that is part of an epic series. I have written several short stories that I am polishing and plan to submit. In Fall of 2005, I did win Honorable Mention in a contest sponsored by www.ralan.com. The story can be seen here: http://www.spectravaganza.com/4-win-05.html

What brings you to the SF Writers Meetup? Is there anything that you hope the group will do for you?

I hope to have "face time" with other writers, which was something I really enjoyed at Odyssey. Before that, I was alone...so alone!

    August 13, District 9 movie

"I would add: It's extremely, graphically violent (and kinda gross). There's lots and lots of shaky-cam. The storyline is depressingly full of human closemindedness, selfishness, and evil. But the mini-mech is really cool!..."

Burning out on your own story

"This is another reason that I use outlines as part of my process. I can only hope that by revising and reworking the outline, I might spare myself at least one rewrite. When a story goes dead to me, I have to shelve it for at least a year...."
