This event is also a fundraiser for the DC VegFest, where a portion of the sales will benefit the event. The DC VegFest, organized by the Vegetarian Society of DC and Compassion Over Killing, will be an extraordinary event to celebrate and learn about the enormous benefits of a vegetarian diet and lifestyle. The event, free and open to the public, takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 12-6 pm at the University Yard on the campus of George Washington University in NW DC.
We'll also be doing a raffle with great vegan prizes!
Bread and Brew is not a 21+ place so those under 21 are welcome to come and have a good time. Make sure you DON'T eat before coming so you can have some wonderful Vegan food prepared by Chef Eugene and enjoy Happy Hour drink specials that will run until 9pm.
At the DC VegFest, enjoy spectacular vegan food from food vendors, food preparation demos (and light sampling), excellent speakers, exhibitors, and fun activities. Confirmed presenters include: Rory Freedman (author of Skinny Bitch and other books), Tal Ronnen (chef to celebrities), Wendy Rieger (NBC4 News Anchor), Dr. Michael Greger (author and physician), Tracye McQuirter (author and public health nutritionist), Kenneth Williams (vegan bodybuilder), and Jamie Raskin (MD State Senator).
The DC VegFest is the perfect place to bring your not-yet-vegetarian family and friends so they can learn to improve their own health, the health of the planet, and show respect / compassion for animals - all on a beautiful day with many hundreds of people. All food and items for sale will be vegan. Many vendors will have unique, veg-oriented items for sale and non-profit groups will have educational materials and information about their worthy activities.
