Monthly Stammtisch Nov/2013

After our summer meetups in the Biergarten we'll return for the autumn and winter to Cafe Puck.

There will be no formal presentations but a nice get-together with people interested in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Everyone is welcome to join us, exchange their ideas and their creativitiy!

As always there will be a table reserved for us. Look out for the placard "Coursera & Udacity Meetup" or ask for "Udacity" at the reception.

I have a really interesting follow-up on our discussion yesterday as Udacity just announced their first payed course. From what I understand you can watch it for free but it will cost[masked]$/month to enroll, which has the benefit of getting a certificate and having access to a tutor.

Hello everyone, I am pleased to tell you that spontaneously the Bayrischer Rundfunk yet again asked us to join us for our meetup to take a few shots for their documentary. So we are becoming famous ;) Cheers, Tim

    Hey guys,
something new on the topic of online courses. Just found this website offering courses especially in the field of economics: http://mruniversity.com/

It is organized by one of the most influencial economists of this decade: Tyler Cowen.
There is also an article about his point of view of jobs in the future, but only in German: http://www.zeit.de/wirtschaft/2013-10/usa-fortschritt-arbeitsmarkt-armut
In this article he also talks about the possibilities and potentials of online learning.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
