The MOPS group at Arvada Covenant Church would love for you to join us!

The MOPS International theme for 2009/2010 is

"Together on Planet Mom"

Nothing changes a woman like motherhood.

Becoming a mom affects your relationships with everyone - your spouse, your parents, your friends and even God. During this time of life, you need to feel nurtured and loved by solid connections you can trust. But in the chaos of raising children, cultivating relationships can take a backseat to just getting the kids fed and to school on time.

Want to learn more about growing in your relationships, as a mother and as a woman on "Planet Mom"? Come to a MOPS meeting, you will be glad you did.

What is a MOPS Group?
MOPS groups are communities that strive to meet the needs of every mom with children from birth through kindergarten. MOPS recognizes that urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be. MOPS groups can help!

There are more than 3900 MOPS groups meeting across the United States and in 35 countries around the world. MOPS groups meet regularly to celebrate the joys of motherhood and to encourage each other through the challenges.

The MOPS Story:
Eight women. The number was small, but the need was great. The first MOPS meeting took place in February 1973 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. For two hours, while their children received care, these mothers talked, laughed, ate, passed a basket for childcare expenses, had a craft demonstration and ended with a short devotional. In this humble beginning, the seeds of the MOPS concept and format were planted. Through friendship, creative outlets, and instruction, the women began to understand that "mothering matters." Today, the same needs for significance are met in much the same way in MOPS groups across the United States and around the world.

What can I expect at each meeting?
Our MOPS group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from September thru May from 9am-11:30.

During each meeting you will enjoy a light breakfast, an informative speaker, group discussions, prayer and a craft to take home while your children are being cared for by trained childcare workers (MOPPETS). There is also plenty of time to relax and get to know the other MOPS moms and build friendships that will last a lifetime. Be prepared to leave feeling refreshed and ready to tackle motherhood again!

This year we have some really great speakers lined up:
Ever wonder how much is too much when it comes to giving your child medicine? Or you wake at 2am with a sick child who is running a fever only to find that you do not have a single dose of infant or children's fever reducing medicine. What do you do? What would a safe does of an alternative be? Pharmacist Lori Luyk will be on hand to answer all of these questions and more.

Other topics this year will include women's and child safety, household cleaning demonstration and even a spa day. Truly a year not to be missed!

Please see our "About Us" page for fee information. Your first meeting is FREE!
