Join us in remembrance of Allah through recitation of the 99 names and learning about their meanings. Lisa Shah will host in South Pasadena. The address will be sent out to those who have RSVPd, a few days in advance of the meeting.

Please bring:

- prayer beads if you have them (extras to share)

- prayer rugs if you like (extras to share)

- a potluck dish -- please indicate in the comments what you're bringing so we have a nice variety

  I checked the address and could not find any transportation to there!!! The closest train station is about 1.5 mile and no bus service , so ill be with u if i find a ride with somebody here in my building , if not ill see u next time in a more convenient location. Thank u sisters and brothers.

Meet other local progressive Muslims and get together in an open, compassionate and non-judgmental environment. We welcome new Muslims, old Muslims, LGBTQ Muslims, and Muslims in mixed-faith relationships. Our goal is to build a community in Los Angeles based on the core Islamic values of compassion, equality, social justice, and human rights. A place where you can be Muslim and be yourself!

This Los Angeles progressive Muslim Meetup is the founding community of Muslims for Progressive Values, a 501 (c) 3 national organization. For more details about MPV please visit www.mpvusa.org.

Meetups are scheduled at least once a month, usually more often, as announced. Activities include discussion, spiritual conversation, study, hiking, social activism/volunteer work, celebrating holidays, and experiencing art, film, and music.

We gather regularly on the first and third Saturday of the month at 3 p.m. in West Los Angeles for discussion and spiritual reflection. All who come with an open mind and loving heart are welcome--including non-Muslim friends, significant others, etc. Topics are announced in advance so that those interested can prepare for a meaningful and informed discussion.

In setting up our prayer space, we strive to create a caring environment in which no one is segregated or excluded. Attendees are invited in turn to lead prayer, regardless of gender. This means that the prayer may be led by a man or a woman, the khutbah may be delivered by a man or a woman. The group of congregants prays and is seated together, like we do in Mecca. Of course, individual men and women can choose to stand/sit to one side or the other if they prefer. Friday prayers start at 1 pm and end at 2 pm. Please see individual prayer dates for details on who's doing the sermon and who's leading prayer.

We are happy to announce that we have an officiant available. Officiant is open to marrying mixed faith couples as well as Gay couples.
