Please join us on Summer Solstice Weekend Sunday June 23, 2013 at Marina Park. We will set up and start playing at 6am. Play will last until 10pm.
You must arrive no later than 6am to be eligible for the Solstice Game. Plan on being there by 5:45am. I will arrive a few minutes before 6am. Eligible participants (called Sols) will be closely watched by several Monitor(s) for the next 16 hours. Each Sol must play a minimum of one game every hour except for the last hour (see below for the last hour of play requirements). One family member or one person per household maximum may enter. You must be on record to have RSVP'd and actually attend at least 2 MPV meetup events in order to participate. You may leave the event grounds to get food, but must play a minimum of one game per hour from 6am to 10pm in order to remain eligible. In the event there are more than two eligible players remaining beyond 8:30pm, the remaining Sols will face-off in a best of 3 games of sand doubles with scoring up to 11 and win by 2 points. Partners will be drawn randomly in this order to form teams which do not stack with power. Experience players will draw a number and beginner players will draw another set of numbers. An experience player will be paired with a beginner. If there are too many experience or beginners that we cannot evenly match, we will try to draw suitable partners that are not eligible in the Solstice game to complete the teams. Odd number of remaining Sols, MPV will deploy one suitable random partner. Odd number of teams, random draw to determine the team(s) that gets a first round bye. Any Sol caught sleeping or acting like they are sleeping will be disqualified. Play will last until 10pm. An eligible Sol or one team of two Sols, who can finish the last game that goes through 10pm will be considered winners. If the game is down to one eligible person or one team of two players, they will play with other random players until at least 10pm in order to win. The last hour of play between 9pm to 10pm must be played continuously with no more than 5 minute breaks between games. In the event of no winner, see official rules.

About MPV (formed July 2010):
Play is on sand and grass at Marina Park (San Leandro) every Sunday in any weather. This massive park can hold a dozen nets. We always welcome more skilled players (B, BB, A, AA) and C/Beginning players aspiring to improve. We play under FIVB Beach rules for doubles and triples. For 4s, 5s, and 6s, the court can play under FIVB Beach or Indoor rules.
There are two SAND courts and two GRASS courts dedicated to DOUBLES: For each surface, the level is BB/A/AA on one court and C/B/higher on the other. The winning team plays again (or has the option to relinquish to the next challengers). Other grass courts are for 3 to 6 players per side, typically C and/or B. Additional courts are available for beginners and children.
Advanced venues: Play is on sand only (mostly doubles) at Ocean Beach (San Francisco), Mission Bay Creek Park (San Francisco), Clark Kerr Campus (Berkeley), Fremont Tennis Center (Fremont), Montara Beach, and Santa Cruz Beach. We play under FIVB Beach rules for doubles.
