Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Saturday 6/21/2014 (12pm)

Join us on Saturday June 21st at Santa Cruz Beach at 12pm.

Please read here:

We will be leaving for Santa Cruz at 10am.  If traffic is normal, we will be there at 12 noon and will start getting courts.  If traffic is horrendous, it might take us until 1:30pm or later to get there.  That said, we will try to leave earlier (maybe as early as 9am).  We may have some players going to SC Friday night.  If that happens, they will try to get courts by 8am.  If anyone else can get there early, you can post a message here or contact me.  People can post the court #s here as they get them.  My contact info is [masked] or[masked]-9274.

We will be playing primarily beach doubles and may have a court or two for non-doubles (quads or more).  This requires that we get more than one court.  It may be difficult to get any courts since it's now summer.  There are also no tournaments scheduled on this date that I am aware of.  We will play till dark 9:00pm.  If anybody wants to start playing earlier and snag courts for us, I can update the start time.  You really need to be there by 7am to 8am to get a court.  In the event the beach courts are full, we will have to challenge on any available courts.  In any case, you will need to bring your game.  Please meet on the courts nearest the Boardwalk side which is less utilized in general.

Players should consider playing in the No Attitudes Allowed Beach Doubles Tournaments.  If you are a skilled competitive player and would like to try to get a letter ranking, you should consider the CBVA.  There are many players in this group so ask around to see if you can team up with somebody.  I can also help you find a partner.  Just message me.

Only skilled players should attend this event.  If you are not a beginner and don't play doubles, you can play 3s, 4s, etc.  We will have one court set aside (if we can get enough courts) for casual players and beginners (just in case).  Generally, beginner level players should go to Marina Park where we have the resources to coach and space to put up many volleyball nets.  When you RSVP, please indicate the time you will be there.  This will help all the players attending.  If you are looking for a carpool, please post a comment so all the players can read it and respond accordingly.  You can also message or call me about carpools or if you have any other questions at [masked].  Thanks, Don

Carpool Drivers - Message me and I will forward you their contact information.

About MPV (formed July 2010):

Play is on sand and grass at Marina Park (San Leandro) every Sunday in any weather. This massive park can hold a dozen nets. We always welcome more skilled players (B, BB, A, AA) and C/Beginning players aspiring to improve.  We play under FIVB Beach rules for doubles and triples.  For 4s, 5s, and 6s, the court can play under FIVB Beach or Indoor rules.

There are two SAND courts and two GRASS courts dedicated to DOUBLES: For each surface, the level is BB/A/AA on one court and C/B/higher on the other. The winning team plays again (or has the option to relinquish to the next challengers). Other grass courts are for 3 to 6 players per side, typically C and/or B. Additional courts are available for beginners and children.

Advanced venues: Play is on sand only (mostly doubles) at Ocean Beach (San Francisco), Mission Bay Creek Park (San Francisco), Clark Kerr Campus (Berkeley), Fremont Tennis Center (Fremont), Alameda Beach, Montara Beach, and Santa Cruz Beach.  We play under FIVB Beach rules for doubles.
