Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Saturday 12/29/2012

Join us on Saturday December 29th at Santa Cruz Beach at 12pm.  Play will go past dark.  We will be playing primarily beach doubles.  This requires that we get more than one court (should be possible).  Please meet on the courts nearest the Boardwalk side, court #s 13, 14, and/or 15.  Also, this side is less utilized in general.

Skilled players should attend this event.  We can set aside one court for Beginner level and up to low intermediate type players.  Beginner level players are encouraged to go to Marina Park where we have the resources to coach and space to put up many volleyball nets.  When you RSVP, please indicate the time you will be there.  This will help all the players attending.  If we have players willing to start before 12pm, we can move the time up.  If you are looking for a carpool, please post a comment so all the players can read it and respond accordingly.  You can also message or call me about carpools or if you have any other questions at [masked].  Thanks, Don

Carpool Drivers  - Message me and I will forward you their contact information.

About MPV (formed July 2010):

Play is on sand and grass at Marina Park (San Leandro) every Sunday in any weather. This massive park can hold a dozen nets. We always welcome more skilled players (B, BB, A, AA) and C/Beginning players aspiring to improve.

There are two SAND courts and two GRASS courts dedicated to DOUBLES: For each surface, the level is BB/A/AA on one court and C/B/higher on the other. The winning team plays again (or has the option to relinquish to the next challengers). Other grass courts are for 3 to 6 players per side, typically C and/or B. Additional courts are available for beginners and children.

Advanced venues: Play is on sand only (mostly doubles) at Ocean Beach (San Francisco), Mission Bay Creek Park (San Francisco), Clark Kerr Campus (Berkeley), Fremont Tennis Center (Fremont), Montara Beach, and Santa Cruz Beach.

Great fun - good to get back on the beach, Don was a great host, and everyone was great to play with - just a really nice group of people.

Can anyone please give me a lift from and to downtown San Jose?

    December 28, 2012

  • Don

@Matthew, if we don't get cancelled by rain, please bring your lines. Check back around 10am on this board to confirm the game is still on. Thanks

Note: If any one of the 3 online weather forecast (,, or shows greater than 30% chance of rain, we will cancel the game. If they all show 30% or less chance of rain, then the game is on. We just played the last 2 games in cold sheets of rain. Christmas Day's game said the weather forecast was 10% to 50% chance of rain. It actually rained most of the time while we were there. Since many of the players have to drive 75 minutes or more, maybe it isn't a great idea to drive in wet conditions. I will post in the comments section at 10am on game day the weather forecast and the status of the game.
