Wednesday Magic in Medford

Come join Kiki and friends for a night of Magic: The Gathering over at Not Your Average Joe's in Medford. This event is part of our "Wednesday Night Magic" series.

It doesn't matter if you are an expert "planeswalker", or don't know anything about Magic: The Gathering -- you can come to play or learn this amazing strategy game.  There are usually between 6-12 people at each event, consisting of all experience levels.  All decks of all types are welcome for this "casual play" event.  Beginners who want to learn are welcome!

This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the T, near the new Station Landing apartment complex. Here is a map of the area.

By Subway: Take the Orange Line to Wellington. Walk over the skybridge and cross through the parking lot. Upon exiting the garage, you'll see a building complex (SL75) across the street. Cross the street and take a right. Follow around this building and you'll find Not Your Average Joe's on the opposite side of the street.

By Car: If you are driving, be aware that Station Landing is at the intersection of Rt. 16 and Rt. 28, and you can enter the Station Landing complex from the north-bound side of Rt. 28, or the east-bound side of Rt. 16. There are a number of stores in the Station Landing complex -- look for the Margarita's, Starbucks or Not Your Average Joe's signs. NYAJ is located right off of Rte. 28. Although there is free parking all around the building, we recommend that MTG Boston members park in the garage underneath the restaurant.

Meant to ask all of you: where do you all usually go for Friday Night Magic, if anywhere? Also, are you planning on going somewhere on Sat/Sun for the Dragon's Maze prerelease? Perhaps we can organize something to meet up with each other.

For the release, I plan to hold a meet up at one of the stores and maybe another host can hold one at another site for different locations. We did this in the past and can be a lot a fun! I usually have fun at these events but some of us will go to WebHead 11 am this Saturday and they also have an event on Sunday at later Saturday evening.

Was a great meetup. Played a few multiplayer games and a ton of 1v1 against David. Most fun I've had playing Magic in quite some time. Looking forward to future meetups. :)

So I was wondering what MTG formats everyone enjoys? I watched a little of the Commander game (this last Wednesday) and that looked alright. I also saw the results for the Pauper tournament and I'd definitely be interested in that. I'd like to begin putting together some decks for formats other players would be interested in playing.

Today, I splurged a little (well more than a little) and put together/purchased what should be a fairly decent Modern format deck. I'd really like to try it out against another Modern/Vintage/Legacy deck this coming Wednesday. Any takers?

I'll be bringing my modern decks. I'll be glad to help you test out your new modern decks.

I'll be bringing some regular decks that I've been tinkering with so I hope everyone isn't planning on doing Commander!

I didn't mean to give that impression.. simply trying to get myself started as well..

Does someone already run a "Scion of the UR Dragon" EDH (Commander) deck?

This will be my first appearance in the group. I only have vintage decks atm. I will help you test your new deck sir. Btw I am not that good and do not have any real expensive cards ex.. power 9 and such. I just have fun playing even if I lose all night when I play.

    April 22, 2013

    • David C.

Yeah.. my cards are not even going to be close to the "Power 9" but I put a lot of thought into the deck so we'll see how it turns out.
