When did you get in to Magic?

Legends / The Dark, and played a while in college, impoverished but happy. Disenchanted by the subsequent era's numerous card banning, and the dubiousness of Homelands arguably profaning existence itself, I shoeboxed up, for about a decade. Picked it back up in May 2011 with my spouse (!), rocking out, three sheets to the wind, in standard and draft formats at 'Comics and Gaming' in Gainsville VA most Friday nights.

Are you a casual, competitive, collector or combination player?

Casual / combination. 40/40/20 Johnny/Spike/Melvin in terms of MaRo's classical player psychotypes. Making a deck sing with pure efficiency will happen, although I enjoy a dramatic close game more than anything else, and so I often prefer to dish up an amusing or enjoyable pattern-mismatcher offering of 5c rainbow deck, or pauper meta, or an astonishing EDH combo, upgraded Duel Decks, etc. In terms of collecting, I'm generally after x4 playsets in standard, followed by combination of EDH staples and pauper format with respect to PDC seasons.

What evenings / days are you most likely free for gaming/trading?

Tuesday, Friday (FNM drafting), Saturday, Sunday, for the most part.

Introduction

Where are the elder statesman, the wise generals? The cool breeze blows, I nod to myself.

What Jason T. is saying about this Meetup Group

A good vibe to this group, and friendly, although the meetings tend to EDH, and within that format, tend to go longer than usual, owing to a 10-card opening draw house rule and general shenanigans. Always fun however, and broadly accommodating. Overall, good times, and would recommend. Newcomers are made welcome. Veterans can find a counterpart for a suitably worthy never-lost-his-hardcode matchup.
