April Meetup

Hallo zusammen,

wir haben US-Kollegen aus dem C++-Team von Microsoft zu Besuch und würden gerne die Community kennenlernen.

An Themenvorschlägen kann ich bieten:

- Modern C++ development with Visual C++

- Creating Windows 8.1 Phone and Store apps using C++

- DirectX Debugging and Profiling

- Connect your native App to the cloud with the C++ REST SDK Casablanca

Tarek Madkour

Tarek Madkour is Group Program Manager for the Visual C++ team at Microsoft. Tarek’s team is responsible for delivering the compilers, libraries, runtimes and IDE that enable developers to create great native applications on the Microsoft platforms. Tarek is a tool maker by passion and trade. Ever since joining Microsoft a over a decade ago, he spent all his time working on the various aspects of native development tools. Prior to Microsoft, Tarek was a software developer and manager working on several system-level technologies.

Daniel Griffing

Daniel is a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test on the Visual C++ Team responsible for shipping libraries and runtimes enabling the development of high performance and high quality applications.  This includes runtimes and libraries shipping in Visual Studio such as the VC Runtime, STL, C++/CX, the Parallel Patterns Library, and C++ AMP.  His team also delivers the C++ REST SDK as an Open Source project on Microsoft’s CodePlex site targeting cross platform client applications connecting to REST services.

Daniel joined Microsoft in 2008 with the Parallel Computing Platform team working on the Concurrency Visualizer for Visual Studio 2010 used for performance tuning of multicore applications as an individual contributor and then as a Lead.  In 2011, Daniel moved to the C++ AMP team delivering a programming model and library for targeting heterogeneous hardware (such as the GPU) on Microsoft Platforms.

Fantastic event, thanks so much! If by any chance it's possible to post a link to the slides, that would be awesome especially for those who missed it - but also for those who didn't, as some parts of the presentation had to be skipped due to lack of time. In any case, the event was truly great!

    Hi guys,

just some more details: If you arrive at Microsoft just tell the reception desk about the C++-Meetup. I'll be there to greet you at 7pm and then we'll start.

One more thing: There's a pizza delivery at 7pm if somebody is hungry ;)

Dear all, this month's meetup will take place at Microsoft in Unterschleißheim (same location as last time). Best way to get there by public transportation is to take S1 to Lohhof. Ask at the reception for the location of the "Meeting C++" event. Please RSVP with your full name for your visitor ID. You can change your account name here:

I'm interested in evaluating/estimating of C++ design structures in multi threading applications.
For example boost.asio with the use of windows I/O completion port against a simple reactor design.
