Gadsden Park/South Tampa Ride

Morning ride on South Tampa!

It should be a very nice morning around South Tampa, with low traffic with a tour of some of the best areas of south Tampa.  Should be an easy ride for all  riders so come out and join us on this ride. This is a great ride around Tampa and a chance to meet some new friends!

We will roll out at 10:30 a.m., so allow adequate time to get there and get organized (unload bike, inflate tires, etc.). This is a "no drop" ride, meaning we will try to stay together as a group. If we separate, we will regroup at each turn in the route.

When almost done with the ride we could have a light brunch at "A Taste of Boston." In checking a review claimed that they had "THE BEST" blueberry pancakes for breakfast and delicious Philly cheese steak sandwich for lunch! Add in the view of the bay that can't be beat!"

Proposed route  or  Proposed Alternate Route

One is through South Tampa, Davis Island and Ybor, while the other is South Tampa, CCC, Hyde Park, Ballast Point...  We'll decide the exact rout to be used once there.

Bring a light snack, some water and bring a friend!

Please RSVP here, on FACEBOOK, or both!

Laura - in regard to using a kayak out of Cypress Point Park - the web page for the park says they've got a canoe launch, so that should cover kayaks as well. http://www.tampagov.net/parks_s...

I never got to fixing the flats in either of the bikes so I cannot make the ride. :-(

Bring a pair of tubes - and be there 15-20 min early and we'll hook you up.

Drew, thank you so very much for the offer-sounds just like the NY club I am a member of. Didn't get the heads up about getting hooked up until later during the day. Did the drizzle deter the ride ? On Sunday I will check out the Farmers Market in St Pete so I will not show for the 10:30 am ride-still looking forward to meeting the members of this club. Hope it's soon. Debb

I have been a member of a different bicycle club for over 10 years. One of the basic rules is NEVER ride without a helmet. As a matter of fact you could not join a club ride without one. Makes a lot of sense if you care about your brain.

In regards to bicycle helmets. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first Hockey helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for some to figure out brains were more important than balls. http://sheldonbrown.com/helmets...

Hey is it OK if I don't have a helmet?

    February 2

    • Drew H.

No it is no OK. I want no part of people needing to relearn speech, house training, etc

As long as I get the 2 flats repaired I should be good to go. Know of a bike shop I can get tubes!? I live in Seminole Heights. Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
