35 mile loop to the Horse and Jockey

Meet at the Shopping Center then head out on a nice route through SW St Petersburg / Gulfport / Treasure Island / Palma Terra with a break at the Horse & Jockey for a snack at roughly mile 31.  After that we can just cruise back the 5 miles to the shopping center.

It's approximately 35 mile road/trail at 13 - 16 mph.

A great ride with lots of twists and turns... It was so much fun, It seemed to be over much sooner than expected. Drew & John were great.

a bit shorter than expected, but with it being 95 on the way home, probably just as well

Martin - not an issue - sounds like the priorities are still in the right place > family then cycling.

Had to shorten route after discussion with a friend at the Pinellas Co Sheriff's Office recommended I drop the loop down towards Ft De Soto due traffic concerns

Sorry that I can't make this ride! I am feeding my dad the cycling Kool-Aid. I've been taking him on Sunday morning rides to get him addicted like the rest of us. So Sunday we'll ride then we're going to go buy him a bike! Have a safe ride!

Oh well... on the other side, more than happy to have him joining us on rides once he catches that bug.

For future 1st Sunday morning rides, there is a community organization (Elks) on Madeira Beach that serves a great breakfast from 0930-1200. Just in case we do this again. I can help with the arrangements.

Sounds like a great idea, just where on Maderia Beach do they hold this at the lodge at 14111 Parsley Dr E? Is there adequate parking nearby? Use that as an start point. end point, middle point or ? If game, we could just pick a date and give you the edit control for that one... :-)

Yes that is the Address, Use as a middle point therefore no parking problem at all. We could park the bikes on the outside patio near the docks. Using same start point as this event, the short route is 10 miles. Changing the route to across the Bayway and going straight to the Elks is 14 miles. Returning by going North to the Stuart Causeway towards the VA and up 100th Way to the Pinellas Trial, we then travel the trail back to the starting point, total would be about 27.5. Of course, if we started out going North and used the Pinellas Trail, you could make the route as long as you like, using either Park Blvd or Walsingham to head to the Beach and ride South to Breakfast. Again it would be a short 10 miles to the start point. And ending with, if we take the Trail to East Bay Drive and across the Belleair Causeway then South to Breakfast, that is a 30 miler, then 10 back to start. So Many Options! And another 100 places to stop at!
