This movie's been out for a while.  Since it's coming up to the Oscars, we'll check this one out for Best Actress Oscar Nominee Naomi Watts' performance.  Who knows, by the time we watch this movie next Tuesday, she'll will be the Best Actress Winner.

The Impossible

Movie synopsis:

A powerful story based on one family's survival of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, The Impossible stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and is directed by J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage). Based on a true story, The Impossible is the unforgettable account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time. But the true-life terror is tempered by the unexpected displays of compassion, courage and simple kindness that Maria and her family encounter during the darkest hours of their lives. Both epic and intimate, devastating and uplifting, The Impossible is a journey to the core of the human heart.

I enjoyed this movie. It's a grim look at the events that unfolded when the big tsunami of 2004 hit Thailand, and specifically how it affected one family. I thought everyone in the film did a great job, especially the kids playing Ewan and Naomi's kids. Some parts are definitely hollywood-esque, otherwise, it's a pretty good film that moves well. And as I promised, I stayed strong for the group! Thanks Carol and Sarah for coming out!

Saw it. I would say it's the 'feel bad movie of the year' but in a good way. i mean it's done so well that you really feel the hurt.
