FREE Advance Screening - The Colony (actors in attendance) READ ALL DETAILS!

***There are only 19 tickets for the 19 attendees***

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PAGE!

Yvette is hosting this meetup you may communicate with her via her profile or post questions in conversation field under meetup details.

We have been fortunate to receive free passes to the advance screening of The Colony, a science fiction horror flick, my favourite! Note free screenings are for existing members and only those that do not have a 'no show' date next to their names. Only sign up for the movie if you can attend, if you cancel on the day off it will count as a no show. TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AT THE THEATER please be on time as the theater will be very busy and also oversold. As with all free screenings the distributors would have given out more tickets than the auditorium can hold and I will arrive well before the movie start time in order to pick up the tickets for us.  I cannot say how long I will be at meetup area but imagine I will be there until at least 6:30pm. I will post updates to comments, please check there often after 6pm.

Actors and director will be in attendance!

Actors Kevin Zegers and Laurence Fishburne will both be attending this screening for a red carpet along with director Jeff Renfroe.

Synopsis:

Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature.Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature.

Trailer here.

Meetup Location: Everyone is to gather at the top of the escalators over on the left where there is usually a movie display. I will be downstairs lining up for the tickets. The theater may be extremely busy and unpredictable, please arrive on time.

Meetup Time: 6:00pm. Please be on time as the movie distributor will distribute more tickets than the theater can hold and while there is no guarantee that you will get in arriving on time increases your chance to see the movie.

Move Start Time: 7:30pm

Cost of movie: Free

After the movie: For this meetup we will only be seeing the movie.

Very, I'm astonished in fact! ;)

Actually, Phil, that video's unlisted so only people who get the link can view. I wouldn't put you all on Public YouTube without knowing how you felt about it.

Pat, the information on the email you get becomes outdated by the amount of time that passes between when it is sent and when you read and respond to it. When you were sent that email 10 spots were filled. When you responded to it, those were long gone.

Yikes, Krystyna, and thanks for the explanation! An opening just became available. I'll see what happens.

Thanks for organizing this event Yvette. Something different than the norm. Though I think you'll see this movie on the late, late show on City sooner than later.

A very special treat for us all ..Thank you, Yvette !! ... Having the main actors and director interact so extensively with us made this a really special event.

Great event, Yvette. Thanks for putting this one together. The movie was alright, the ending probably could have been done better. But it was cool being in attendance with a lot of the cast in the movie, not just the lead stars. I'll upload my pictures tomorrow.

8-O. OMG! I'm in big trouble and deeply ashamed. Gina Torres is one of the big stars of one of the best shows ever- Firefly, of which I was speaking in the Jack's. I didn't know it was her and didn't recognize her.

I got a photo of her looking at me and smiling. ;) I'll upload it tonight with my others.

Emjoyed the movie (despite a few flaws) enjoyed the actors and Strombo emceeing; well-organized by Yvette , Phil D and perhaps others too; a nice bunch of folks who attended

I'm glad I managed to score my own ticket through my friend to join you guys (man was it cold waiting in line). The movie was entertaining enough, and yes I was a bit squeamish in some of the scenes (ick!). It was neat having the cast in the theatre! Can't wait to see the pictures. =)

Movie had some pretty intense moments that kept my eyes riveted to the screen but became weaker towards the end. Laurence Fishburn is quite a funny laid back guy and it is obvious that he and Kevin Zegers enjoyed making the movie together. The Q&A was one of the best I've seen, and it was amazing just how many of the cast were in the audience and we spotted actors from television shows as well. Great evening! Thank you Phil, and Nancy for helping out and I am very happy that everyone was on time and there were no 'no shows'. Way to go!

Terrific! My favourite people. Hanging with the stars. An intelligent movie. Some say the end was not the best but I still thought the cliches were stylish. A nice apres outing. Thank you Yvette, Nancy, Phil- much appreciated.

Great Event.. Thanks Yvette for arranging everything. Movie was alright and ending could have been better. But seeing Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus) live was awesome! Good crowd and good hang-on at Jack Astors afterwards

Please keep an eye out if you're on the waiting list if you've been changed to Going. I will stop moving people up at 3pm and clear out the waiting list. At that point, the attendance list will be finalized.

    April 3, 2013

    • Phil D

I've emptied out the waiting list. Hopefully next time!

I will be attending as well, but I have my own ticket. Good news on the phones :)

awesome i got a spot! i will definitely be there!

Just got confirmation that we will not be asked to hand in our cell phones; yeah we can take photos!

    1 · April 3, 2013

  • Phil D

If you are Going or high on the waiting list, please make sure you read the email Yvette sent today. The meetup spot is different from what she wrote above.

I will be helping her with taking attendance, so you should be keeping an eye out for me at the meetup spot mentioned in the email.

Thanks Phil, I just noticed I had two separate meetup locations and I have corrected this. See you all later.

Just to let the organizers know, I seem to be getting at least one email a day with this headline:
"There is room in "FREE Advance Screening - The Colony (actors in attendance) READ ALL DETAILS!" to say that you're going!"
just thought you should know, as you probably didn't mean to keep sending this message out every day.

    April 3, 2013

    • Phil D

I think it's a setting in Meetup that we don't have any control over. If the organizers want people to be moved up automatically, they have to maintain the 19 person limit. Whenever someone leaves that 19, the email goes out automatically even though Meetups will be moving up a waiting list person into Going.
