Thanks Marco! If it doesn't show up on tv again soon (sometimes original movie versions appear when there's a new big film release), I will definitely watch this on line!

I haven't watched the full movie yet, but the comments suggest it might be a good one...RT gives it 63%

It's no wonder that Jackie Robinson is a baseball legend. He demonstrated courage, patience & determination & overcame the small mindedness of the populace. It felt like the entire movie audience was rooting for him to succeed. I'm not a big sports fan but I love biographies...this was a great one & I'm glad I came out to see it. Kudos to Laura for coming out whilst feeling so unwell... take good care & I hope you feel better soon!

Excellent film on so many levels & very VERY inspirational-- hope everyone who didn't get a chance to see it this eve. will see it soon! --Forgot to include in my "group" email just sent out that if you google:"statue of Pee Wee Reese Embracing Jackie Robinson", you will find a photo on line of this monument that was erected in a Brooklyn stadium-- representing the moment (seen in the film) where this player showed support for his teammate in front of a hostile crowd in Cincinnati. Thanks again everyone for coming out! =)

Such a refreshing change these days - to leave the theatre feeling uplifted !! But what a wonderful trip of strong emotions ...
I will never forget the powerful scene of Chadwick Boseman (Jackie) when he was going through his major breakthrough, in that narrow hallway - smashing his bat with such intense feeling. I sure agree with Yvette ... Prompt, friendly service and tasty snacks at the revitalized Pickle Barrel - and so convenient for us !! :)

Really enjoyed this movie and have nothing but awe for how Jackie Robinson handled himself and for being such a brave man. I could not imagine how he and his wife felt during what must have been the most difficult time in his life but I think he would have been happy with the film. I had a fun time at Pickle Barrel and am so glad that they have cleaned up their act. The service and food was quite good!

    Hi Laura,

This is the first event I'll be attending. How will I know who's in the group so that I can introduce myself?
I know there are photos of attendees posted, but I'm not so good with finding faces in a crowd. Besides, it might get kind of creepy if I'm staring everyone in the lobby down...:-)

Will there be a designated meeting place, or should I wear a rose in my lapel? Thanks....

Thanks Ariel-- I knew there was an association w/ Montreal (there was a 'CBC heritage commercial' that used to play a few yrs ago that I remember seeing, which is probably what you have...)... didn't want to spoil the film in case it is also in part of the story line... (but let's wait n' see...!) L:)

Here's a "Heritage Minute" video I found of Jackie Robinson's roots in Canada, playing with the Montreal Royals (the minor league affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers) in 1946, the year before he broke the color barrier in MLB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnUcN0txo5g
