Concert Movie: Paul McCartney & Wings Rockshow (1976) @ Yonge & Eglinton

  • This location is shown only to members

Phil D is the organizer for this meetup.  If you need to contact him, please post a message on the wall, or go into his profile and email him through there.

Per MAMM policy, cellphone use by members during a movie is prohibited.  We request that you put away your phones once the previews start. If you need to check your phone for any reason, please exit the auditorium.

I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I really enjoy Paul's post-Beatles work, so this looks like a great way to enjoy selections from both eras as he sang them back in 1976.  I won't post what songs will be shown, I'd rather be surprised by the track listing.  But some of them can be heard in the trailer below.

Since this is a special event presentation, it's full price ($14.95) and uses up 1200 Scene Points.  As the description indicates below, there is a bonus interview with Paul McCartney that is exclusive to the theatrical screenings.

Concert Movie: Paul McCartney & Wings Rockshow (1976)

Movie synopsis:

ROCKSHOW is a 1980 concert film by Wings, filmed during their 1976 North American tour. It features 30 songs from four concerts of the tour: New York, May 25 (four songs); Seattle, Washington, June 10 (five songs); Los Angeles, California, June 22 (15 songs); and Los Angeles, California, June 23 (six songs). This was part of the Wings Over the World Tour that also spawned the triple live album Wings Over America. McCartney remained reluctant to make the entire film available to the general public until now. The film will include an interview with Paul McCartney that will be exclusive to theatrical screenings.

Here's a clip from one of the performances:

Meetup Location: I will be waiting across from Pickle Barrel by the phones.  I have a blue shoulder bag.

Movie meetup time: 6:45pm.  Will wait about 10min.

The movie starts @ 7:15pm.

Movie Running Time: 2h25m

Cost of movie: $14.95 (It's considered a special event type presentation, so it's regular price at all the theatres.  If you're using scene points its 1200pts).

After the movie: We'll just go to Pickle Barrel unless folks are in the mood for Spring Rolls.

I look forward to seeing you there!!

***Please keep an eye out for updates or changes to the time and venue up to the day of the event.  If you are unable to attend, change your RSVP ASAP.

I will start closing out RSVPs the night before the event, but you can still show up and I can add you to the attended list. Cancellations after the event RSVP closing time may be treated as 'No Show', unless you turn up for the film.

In order to be marked as attended you will need to show up at the meetup time as indicated, or connect with the group right outside of the screening theatre room at the end of the movie.

When you RSVP 'Yes' you are agreeing to the MAMM policy and the Liability Waiver posted in this link:

Here's TV Carpio singing Hold your Hand: (I like it a lot)
from Across the Universe movie: (Think they did a good job overall)
and Two of Us the made up film about Lennon and Mccartney reunion shot in Toronto: (Interesting although I feel it never quite seems like the characters are accurate)

Thanks Chris. I think I heard about two of us, it was a TV movie if I recall. Director Michael Lindsay Hogg also directed Let It Be!

Also, the link for Welcome to the Basement. Although the next film they critique will be HELP!, not a Beatle channel but a movie review channel. Basically, two guys, Matt and Craig, watch a film that Matt had always wanted to see but didn't (hadn't?). https://www.facebook.c...

Thoroughly enjoyed the film. Was always a big fan of the Beatles...not so much of Wings, but the film gave me a new appreciation of Paul McCartney's talents as well as Denny Laine's, an alumni of the Moody Blues. England does indeed produce some of the best guitarists in the world!

The concert film was okay. I thought there would be some behind the scenes stuff of them having down time, or interviews with the audience and what they thought of Paul & Wings, but it was just straight concert performance footage. Lots of obscure album tunes in this one, along with familiar Paul & Beatle tunes. Thanks for coming out to see this film, and the lively Beatles trivia discussion we had after the movie @ PB!

Here's the extended mix of Revolution 1 (AKA Take 20) that made it out onto the internet a few years ago.

You gotta buy it the same day as other people in the scenetourage. At least, that's how it should work. I haven't done any modifications of the membership, although there are a few who haven't been coming out for a while now.
