What would you like to learn or gain from participation in Mad-Railers?

I'm still really a n00b when it comes to Ruby on Rails. I can build simple tutorial-like applications, but I want to do more. I'd appreciate open hacking nights where I can come and work on ideas with the hopes of having some experts around who can answer questions. I'd also like to attend presentations on basic topics (MVC, authentication, deployment, etc.).

What's your background with Rails and similar tech?

I've been trying to learn Rails for about a year. I have programmed in many other languages like Python and Lisp over past decade, but only as a hobby, not professionally.

Are you working with Rails professionally?

I'm a Milwaukee-area information security professional who'd like to learn more about Ruby and Rails. I've been a member of RubyMKE for about a year.
