Let's do a Meet and Greet!

Let's set something up for a more casual gaming, meet-and-greet game night. Eh? I'd like to get a feel for which members are still active and interested. We'll have some refreshments, bring your own games (or suggest them on here) and we'll have a grand ol' time shaking hands and rolling dice. What works for everyone?

It was great trying out a couple of games I had never played before, and fun meeting other gamers. Looking forward to future outings!

Great location. Lot's of game choices and cool people

Good Time! Can't wait for the next one.

Loads of fun. Can't wait for next one.

Thanks again Erich! It was great meeting everyone and learning a few games. I'm excited about this group :)

A great group of people showed up and we played some fun ones. Faux-cabulary was a bit hit. I'll be posting some pictures soon! Thanks for coming everyone!

    June 17, 2011

  • Paul W.

We are going to a friend's house first to watch Game of Thrones and then stop by. Fauxcabulary would be awesome to try out.

Just reconfirmed at Vintage for tomorrow night. We have a room that should allow us to play our games out of the way of the other patrons. If you haven't rsvp'd yet, please do so soon so we can give them an accurate count. I'm going to see what I can do to pick up "Faux-cabulary" cuz it looks hilarious. I'll bring some light board games and party games to get us all laughing and talking (Wits and Wagers, Dixit, etc) Can't wait!

Thanks for the heads up, Rich. I've been attending game nights at Dahmen's for a couple months now and they're all great people. I've let them know that I'm heading up this group now so hopefully we'll have some cross over. I'll speak with Dan about whether he'd like to have their events posted on here too! Hope you can make it to some MadCoG events coming up!

    Erich,

Anyone from this meetup group is more than welcome in joining in with the regular Tuesday group that meets on Tuesday evenings at Dahmen's Pizza near Mineral Point and Yellowstone. I won't be able to make the meet and greet you have scheduled because of the conflict with times, but hope you guys have a good time.

    June 15, 2011

  • Marissa

Works for me (of course) :) Thanks again for setting this up!

Are people ok with Vintage instead of the Essen Haus?

    1 · June 12, 2011

  • Erich G.

I think we'll keep it for thursday this time around. I'm still getting a few responses of people who can make that time. I'm sure not everyone will be able to make it to every event, but it'll get more confusing if we just keep changing it around. Trust me, we'll be having lots!

    June 12, 2011

  • James L.

I'll be late then if it's on Thursday by around 45 minutes

    June 10, 2011

  • JT S.

someone should change the date and location to one that everyone wants, since clearly thursday only works for me.

    June 10, 2011

  • JT Smith removed the location. It was Essen Haus

Sorry, I can't make the M&G since I have a class Thurs evening.

    June 9, 2011

  • Nathan H.

Also, 6/10 people so far have voted for Wednesday night, with only 1 vote (maybe two if we include JT) voted for Thursday ...

    June 9, 2011

  • JT S.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was changing the location. I thought I was responding to your poll. Anyway, yes I've run lots of events there before. They have 2 side rooms that can be used for special events. If you want, I can go over and talk to Neil (the manager) and reserve the space.

    June 9, 2011

  • Erich G.

I also won't be able to make it on the 23rd since I'll be at Essen. I was hoping to nail something down for next week or the week before the Luna event.

    June 9, 2011

  • Erich G.

JT, have you done anything like this at the Essen Haus before? I'm only slightly worried since Thursdays are big drinking nights.

    June 9, 2011

  • JT Smith changed the location to Essen Haus

I dig the Vintage. Anyone opposed to that?

    1 · June 9, 2011

  • James L.

Sunday works best but could make it Thursday.

    June 9, 2011

  • Marissa

I wanted to put out a couple ideas for venues (in addition to Pegasus which is the best :) )...Grey's Tied House has a nice upstairs area that the Euchre group has used and The Vintage on Whitney Way has a back room that might be an option. Also, the Panera on University near Midvale has a room they let people use with a reservation.

Either works for me. Prefer Sunday though. Thanks!

  • Marissa

Thursday sounds great! I added my vote to the poll under
    "More"

    June 9, 2011

  • Erich G.

I agree with the rotating nights thing. We'll do that moving forward for the "General Gaming" nights. So far I think we have it down between a Thursday or Sunday. How about some votes? I"ll have it nailed down before the weekend after I get some feedback. Thanks for all the input!

    June 9, 2011

  • Erich G.

Ok, haven't heard many people saying that can't do a Thursday night. Would that work for people? I know we won't be able to make it work for everyone, but I'm going for maximum! :)

    June 9, 2011

  • Ray

I am interesting in participating but Tuesday nights are definitely out for me. I also cannot tolerate the smell of coffee so anything in a coffeehouse would not work for me. Sorry.

    June 9, 2011

  • Steven

If we do sunday afternoon maybe we could do it at cool bean on the eastside or manna cafe or the essen house.

    June 9, 2011

  • Steven

I would be open for weekends at the end of june beginning of july. Anyone know how to play Alhambra. I haven't played it yet. Sundays would be fun. Something to look forward to before the work week

    June 9, 2011

  • James L.

Sundays are a good time for me.

    June 8, 2011

  • Tim

I golf on tuesdays but could make a 6pm time. Would prefer a rotating night, though.

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

Should we say a Sunday for the first Meet and Greet? I'm thinking some fun party games and lighter games that take lots of players! :)

    June 8, 2011

  • Marissa

Looks like a rotating night might be best to catch everyone now and then :)

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

Also, remember to invite your gamer and non-gamer friends too! We're gonna get this group as big as possible! Yup!

    June 8, 2011

  • Anna

would it be possible to do game nights closer to the weekend? my sporadic work schedule makes it difficult to stay out late during the week. this is very frustrating, because i want to be more active in the group. =(

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

Yeah I'm thinking a Tuesday or Wednesday night. Any objections in that realm?

Sorry, any day for this will be fine. I thought I was posting for a gaming night which I thought should be mid-week or Sunday.

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

Anyone have any bad dates in the next couple weeks? Perfect nights that work for games? Favorite gaming spots? Otherwise I'll just pick a date out of a hat!

    June 8, 2011

  • Nathan H.

I'm excited to see some momentum building in this group. I moved from Boulder where there a few active, local board gaming groups, and I miss the good times! Looking forward to learning some new games, and playing some old favorites.

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

Will, you like the idea of them?! Hehe that made me chuckle. Settlers is always a great place to begin. Another thing I really love to do is show people who are interested the "next step". Settlers is a classic and there are many more that will introduce you to some of the main mechanics (typical things you'll do in a game) that most euro games use. We'll spend a few minutes at this meetup getting a feel for what people are looking for. We'll see you there!

    June 8, 2011

  • James L.

I'm a big gamer and will be going depending of course if the time works. But most likely I'll be there.

I'm not a big board gamer, but I wish I were as I like the idea of them. So I'd be especially interested in any session where I can learn a new game (currently only a passing ability to play Settlers).

    June 8, 2011

  • Marissa

I think that's a great idea. I don't know a lot of games, but I LOVE to play and learn new ones. I'm in if the final time works! Thanks again Erich!

    June 8, 2011

  • Erich G.

I think we should try to do the meet-and-greet before the Luna teaching event. I'll be able to let Pegasus know what they can expect and we'll be able to brainstorm more ideas for meetups. The sooner the better and the West Side always works for me. My gaming group meets at Dahmen's Pizza on Mineral Point. I could talk to them and see if they'd take some more gamers on another night?
