    scipy: http://scipy.org/

I would be willing to do a whirlwind tour of scipy next meeting if there's interest. Probably IPython Notebook + pandas + matplotlib.

Yes, I can commit to it. I know a good data set I can use and just need to put together a slide deck and saved notebook.

Hi I plan to attend this, it will be my first meeting. I am also engaged with a high school robotics program and there's some modeling that I think Python would be well suited to. What are the chances there would be a more experienced Python programmer attending that might be willing to offer some advice?

Sadly, I won't be able to make this one or future Meetups because I'll be moving to Charlottesville, VA to take a job at the Center for Open Science. It was great to be a part of this MapPUG in its early stages, and I hope it stays active for a long time!

By the way, the Center for Open Science is hiring Python web devs (http://centerforopenscience.org/jobs/). They are a Python shop building open source tools for scientists. If this sounds interesting, feel free to email me. I'd love to tell you more about it.

I fall into the "Getting started with Python" category, I've got a simple game of blackjack in Python and am looking to get other ideas and meet others with more knowledge than myself in this field.
