Coed Rec Open VBall at Cherokee Middle School

MSCR hosts a coed-open rec-level group at Cherokee Middle School (at 4301 Cherokee Dr) 7-9pm Thursday eves. The group supervisor David Nelson welcomes new players and they can stop in and join us as a "guest" for the evening at no charge to see if this level fits their interests. Although recreational, I find it is a higher level of play than beginner and we try to set up most plays; however, we understand when mistakes happen. To clarify, when I say higher level of play, most of us know how to play and it isn't always one hits back and forth but I would not consider this high intermediate/power. David, the session leader, encourages "intentional" play without worry about messing up. We believe it is better to try for the pass or set than to just pop it over the net, and try to have the second hit be the setter position. If you're looking to develop your skills or learn the game, this could be the group for you. If you do come, come through the doors by the parking lot, go down the steps to the lower level, turn right down the hallway, and you should find the gym on the right a little ways down the hallway. We tend to start a little after 7. If you like it and want to play regularly, the fee is $29.75 for MSCR residents (+50% for non-residents) for Thursdays 10/31 to 12/19.

Ack! I want to come back, but I don't think I'll get another chance at a free Wisconsin basketball ticket. So I guess you'll all just have to make due without me!

It was a pleasure having you join us last week. I hope you'll make it back. WI BB sounds like a good reason to miss this week. Enjoy!

Can I just show up and tell that I am a member of Madison Area Volleyball network?

Meetup group may be easier to know. There are regulars signed up through MSCR so if too many where we rotate, the guests may be the only ones to rotate out since others paid. We have enough extras planned this week where that may be the case.

Yes, this group has invited us to come check them out, offering one freebie week so you can see if it suits your style/skills. Then if you like it and want to make it a regular thang, you can settle up with David on-site.
