** This event is weather-dependent - it may be canceled or postponed on short notice **
Wingra boats has canoes, single and tandem kayaks, and paddleboats at [url=http://www.wingraboats.com[/url]. You can also get directions from their website.
If you have your own canoe or kayak, feel free to bring it! Once everyone is there, those without paddling partners can pair up on the spot -- it's a great way to get to know someone!
Bring a picnic lunch and we will socialize a bit before renting boats. Even if you can't take a canoe or kayak out on the lake, you're welcome to join us for lunch! Wingra Boats sells beverages and snacks.
Everyone is free to return to the rental place when they've had enough. But if you have a paddling partner, you might want to agree in advance how long you're hoping to stay out -- if you have differing expectations, then you might want to pair up with someone else. This can all be discussed during lunch.
I'll be watching the weather -- if it looks like it might be rainy, cold, and/or windy, I might reschedule for later in the summer.
Later in the season, we'll also be looking at some cool moonlight paddles.
Parking in the lot near the boat launch fills up very fast, as does the nearby street parking, so you might end up parking a couple blocks away. For some, the best option might be to bike in.
Please RSVP so I can call Wingra Boats on Saturday and let them know how many of us are coming. If there are enough of us, they will call in an extra person to work that day to help us with launching and returning.
