Halloween Costume Party/Pumpkin Carving at Kathryn's

I had a Halloween Costume Party last year, and it was a fabulous event.  We would love to do it again. Please feel free to review pictures from last year.  This is kid friendly, and my son who will have just turned 11 will be there.  Following is a picture of our 2012 Witches' Cauldron....

You do not have to have a costume, but it will definitely make it more fun. Feel free to bring a pumpkin and either carving or decorating gear for your pumpkin.  We can get pictures of our pumpkins later in the evening.  Bring a dish and a beverage....it would help if you post what you will bring in your RSVP.  (If you can, please remember I am allergic to onions.  If you end up having it in something, let me know or post it....please.)  I will have to come up with a new "brew" for the group.  The grill will be available.  I will have some brats to grill.  I can also make a fire in the firepit on the deck if people would like. Of course, we also always have the two levels to mingle.  This meetup is in conjunction with Energizers, so I am limiting the number so as to not get too many people between the two groups.  I will max at about 70 people total.

Things to bring:

Yourself!!! (in costume if you can, but not required for entry.)  ha ha

Pumpkin and pumpkin carving decorating kit (optional)

A dish to share (or you could sign up for staples such as Halloween plates, cups or napkins...it all helps.)

Beverage

....and then be ready to share in the fun and laughter of the evening.

Happy Halloweeeeeeen....

Kathryn (and Braden)

and Dwight

I think the kids had a blast! Hopefully the adults did, too. It was a bit harder this year with all that we have been doing, i.e., estate sale, getting things done around the house, etc. BUT, it is an event I love doing and I also realize I am never alone. Our group is just fabulous and lovely to hang out with.

Does anyone by any chance have a video of some kind that can be set up and then feed into the TV or some screen? I have been trying to get access to one and haven't been able to yet. If so, could I get it before the event starts. You are welcome to set it up yourself if you have one. I would be pretty excited if we could come up with this.

Also, I will email my address and directions again later tonight. Please make sure to have your access to meet up emails "on", at least temporarily until you get the address. Thanks. We are REALLY looking forward to this. It will be a full house, so please feel free to move around and not all stay in the kitchen/dining area as it gets packed. :) You can go downstairs or outside. We will have a firepit and a heater outside. (Of course, it will get cold later, so don't stay out.) I have two levels you can mingle on.

What kind of "video"? Do you want a camera or do you want scary movies (dvds) playing?

Does anyone know what they are bringing?

    October 26

  • Ken

Kat, if anyone wants to contribute money, can we do that? Hosting parties of this size are expensive. The host always spends 30 hours getting ready, spends money on last minute items, and then spends hours cleaning up after. That's a lot. Food at these events is usually covered pretty well. If someone wants to contribute money instead (or in addition to), is that okay? Maybe there could be a Party Contribution Pumpkin or something, where people could donate if they chose to. Even 50 cents or a dollar. Just something to help out.

    • Kathryn

That would be great, Ken. It does get expensive. It is fun, though.

How can I see what others are bringing so I dont bring a similar dish?

    October 19

    • John C

You'll see things listed here but if you bring anything good, we will devour it even if someone else has the same thing (aka about 8 pounds of shrimp last year).

      1 · October 20

    September 19, 2013

    • Kathryn

Yes, it is pot luck style. Lots of good food and company. And I will come up with some games. It was a blast last year. Will do the mummy contest again...that was cute.

Hi Kathryn I would love to come to your party I would need an address of where this is and phone too

    September 19, 2013

    • Kathryn

Thanks, Carly. As above, I will email it to all "YES" RSVP's prior to the event. People tend to sign up, cancel, etc., so will do so closer to event.....also so it is fresh. Please be sure to have your ability to get emails from meet up on. Because I am a single mom, I do not post it for all to see...it ends up on the internet. I post it to "those who need to know." :)
