Roller Skating at Fast Forward

This is a general (all ages) get together for roller skating.  All level are encourage (so when I fall continuously it won't seem so bad).  We'll skate an hour  or and hour and a half, pick a place for food, then others can find an "after party".

Sat, January 17, 7pm – 10pm

Fast Forward Skate Center, Verona Road, Madison, WI, United States (map)

SATURDAY NIGHT ULTIMIX: Every Saturday night anything goes for music, pop, rock, hip hop, oldies, whatever the crowd wants!

As there's alot of people involved, make sure RSVPs are up to date.  Any cancellations < 24 hours will be marked as No Shows.

I think this should be a regular thing, we'd have a ball!! For those who had fun (and those who almost did) keep an eye out for decent skates (the biggest complaint) at Play It Again sports and Craigslist and garage sales. Practice on your driveways and places and ambulance can access easily and we'll do this again.

and just FYI an hour and a half of roller skating burns over 1,000 calories...

    1 · January 17

    • Nicole L.

Does that 1,000 calories include all the times I had to sit down to take a break :D?

      1 · January 18

    • John C

No, nor does it count the times I fell down but does allow for the struggle to get up....

Thank you all for a great blast from the past! I had a great time!! and would definitely go again.

Equipment was in poor condition though some did a very nice job. It does challenge me to dig out my In-lines and get some practice in. We didn't do alot of miles but looks like most had fun.

Is anyone bringing kids to this?

    January 17

    • John C

Someone else asked. no one said they were but there's no reason you couldn't.

      January 17

  • Linda

Can a clueless on wheels person participate? I'm a maybe. It was fun decades ago!

    January 17

    • John C

Sure, we can line up like a chorus line and all skate (or fall) together.

I stopped by tonight, not easy to find the entrance. If you're coming from town and get off toward Home Depot, stay left and JUST after the roundabout you'll see what looks like a construction entrance road on the right - that's the drive.

I got us a group rate - looks like $5 a head including skates but we should all enter as a group. The manager will get us in early so we can commandeer the space we want. Meet at 6:45 to get in at the group rate.

Looks like a good crowd. I don't know the layout but will stop by before or after some dancin' this week and we'll pick a gathering spot. If all else fails, look for bright green jacket or sweatshirt (signifying dangerous skater) or a funny hat.

Sounds like fun! I haven't skated for many years. I would like to join you, but since I'm having surgery 3 days before then, I better not plan on skating. Have fun everyone!

I think I just made this an event by being the 3rd person to RVSP. Let's pick a date and skate.

    January 3

  • John C

Meetups with a date and time are always more likely to get a response. Just pick a date about two weeks out. We often get suggestions and have had 50 people RSVP but when a date was set only a dozen could make it.
