Sorry for not replying earlier. Did you mean find THE Meetup group that day or A group to practice with around town?

I was very happy with the event. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. If anyone has further questions or would like some information on any of the groups that demonstrated please send me a Private message. I will do my best to answer or get you connected with someone who can.

It was interesting. I though the guy on the video was realy good. I liked how he combined tai chi and yoga, and his music choice was different. It made it into fun exersise. There is nothing wrong with fun, right? :-)

I enjoyed the demonstrations and really enjoyed the the fellow from California. I was not expecting to sweat or get any core work but I did! It was a great way to focus and de-stress.

Is this a participation event or just observing mostly?
I'm interested in trying it for a bit, rather than just observing and asking questions. I want it all! :)

I just noticed you are in Milwaukee? I was invited to attend another event closer to you if you are interested let me know. My first Tai chi teacher is putting that one on.

Thanks for adding the notes. There's so much on the schedule, I think I was assuming it was an all day event. So, I didn't want to go at 10 and find out there wasn't a beginner session till the end of the day. But now that I realize it only goes till about 1:00, I'll go for the whole thing.

And actually, I live in Waterloo now, so I'm closer to Madison. I didn't realize I never changed my profile. I'm trying to get a friend in Madison to join me too. She's not too keen on trying new things. It would be next to impossible to get her to go to Milwaukee for it! :)

I have tried everything I can think of to de-stress; what are my chances that these movement art forms can help me? Also, I was wondering if it involved the use of the core.

Ohh, you might need a longer discussion on this. I would say if you find something you love and do it enough anything can de-stress you. I love Taichi so ya it de-stresses me. As for core. It works the core but not in the way most people would think. All the movements in Tai chi draw their initiation and direction from the core. But one of the main principals is holding a relaxed awareness. So it trains your core to assist in movements but not in the Arnold muscle building kind of way. Singers find benefit from it in their art as well as Dancers. I usually tell people it is the art within your art, I have not found anything yet that applying the principals of movement learned in Taichi has not improved.

I am injured but still supporting this event. I will hopefully have a wheelchair by this time but if not look for a guy hobbling on crutches. I will do my best to inform and inspire as I can.

Hi Patrick, I am not familiar with this area, where is it exactly going to be? Outside, Community Center?

I looked up their calendar, it is in Community Center. Thank you very much Patrick for sharing this. I have been looking into getting back practicing Tai Chi.

I have heard many times the health advantages of Tai Chi and Qi Gong but have not experienced them personally. What a great opportunity to learn more!

I hope you enjoy it, if you have more questions I consider myself a bit of a geek in this area. Feel free to ask.
