Offering of Angels

The Chazen has an unusual exhibit opportunity. As colder weather sets in, we could go to brunch before, or coffee after a tour of the Offering of Angels exhibit on loan from the Uffizi.

Tour would be at 2:00, with brunch or coffee before or after.

This looks like it will be an unusual opportunity.

I had never been to a docent led tour - I learned a lot!

Not what I expected, but it was ok.

I am coming from Edgerton. If anyone reads this anytime soon, what is the best way to get there? I get confused around the Capital area and finding a ramp to park at is even more difficult for me.

Hi Tina, Sorry for not seeing this earlier - for the future - take the Beltline off of 90/94, then the Park Street exit, north toward the Johnson/University/Langdon part of campus; you can turn right on Johnson and left on Lake Street to get to the Lake Street parking ramp (between University and State Street). Hope everything went okay! L

My mom and I went, but she decided last minute that she just wanted it to be us, not the group thing. We got there early around 1:30 and left shortly after 2:00. I hope everyone had a good time though.

Given the size of the group, I think the Lakefront Cafe at the Union would be a good choice.

I'll be at a yoga class right before but would be interested in going somewhere after if we come up with a place.

We don't have a place picked out yet, but it's a fairly large group - you'll probably be able to identify us if you get to the Chazen some time after 2:00 - I would guess we might be done around 3/3:15, but not sure...

So, we'll see everyone at the main lobby (if there haven't been recent changes I'm not aware of, on the University Avenue side of the building), by around 1:45. We can decide at the end where people want to go for coffee/snacks - (lots of choices on State Street, or we could go to the Union).

    Looking forward to it!

Would it be OK if I brought my 6 year old son with me?

Yes, at your discretion, that's fine!

I think getting coffee afterwards may be better than brunch, that way we can discuss the fabulous art!

We could pick a specific place, or just decide to wander to state street or the union after the exhibit...

This looks really fun! I've been wanting to take in more art, & have not been to the Chazen I don't think since it was the Elvehem. I'll see if I can figure out where the front door is, & look forward to meeting some folks.

Sounds like a good idea to me. The more the merrier?

I have never been there or even heard of this place before. It seems interesting. Is everyone meeting near the front door or a certain meetup place and walking through together or on your own? I've just been to 1 meetup so far, so not sure how everything works yet.

Anyone have ideas about whether they would like to go to the Union for a drink or for coffee after seeing the exhibit, or to lunch or brunch before?

(There are a lot of places around the capitol that could work for brunch & walking to the Chazen if weather is good, or places people could drive from - does anyone have an idea about a good place closer to the Chazen that would be serving on a Sunday?)

I've seen this exhibit several times, and it is absolutely fabulous. Many of the paintings are very famous. I had no idea that the "Last Supper" was so enormous--it takes up nearly a whole wall!

(Wow!) I have not seen it yet. But I went to the Uffizi especially to see this category of works many years ago when I was a student. I definitely want to get there before the exhibit leaves!! I don't know how well-publicized it has been. I hope some people decide to go and enjoy it!
