Traditional Wisconsin Fish Fry at Smoky's

Since everyone loved our last fish fry at Smoky's in October, we'll be going back. With the frosty days of February upon us, what sounds better than some of the most satisfying comfort food around . . . a traditional Wisconsin fish fry at a legendary Wisconsin supper club! Smoky's Club has been around FOREVER and its warm, cozy, and nostalgic atmosphere reflects it. Smoky's is known for steaks, but it also serves a delicious traditional fish fry on Friday nights. The fish fry includes cod, soup, salad, relish tray, bread, and choice of potato or veggie of the day. I've made reservations for 30 under 'Jean," and we will meet in the bar at 5:30 for a relaxing cocktail before being seated at 6:00 PM. Smoky's is also famous for its extensive martini list prepared by "Martini Bob."

A couple other details:

1. The fish fry is $16 and an 18% gratutity will be added to the bill since we have a party of more than 6 people. Including tax, the meal works out to an even $20 per person.

2. There will be NO SEPARATE CHECKS for parties of more than 6 people, so PLEASE PAY ME WITH CASH when settling the bill.

Hope to see you there!

Friday, February 1 is also the American Heart Association's "Wear Red for Women Day." I plan to wear something red to the fish fry in support of this cause if you'd like to join me, ladies. When I was 35 years old, I suffered a mild stroke caused by a clot going through a small hole in my heart. My heart was repaired, and I fortunately suffered no damage from the stroke. But I am eternally grateful to the cardiac staff at UW Hospital for the terrific care they gave me.

Congratulations Jean on being a survivor! What do you mean "when I was 35"? That indicates that you are past 35. That can't be. Sorry I won't be able to make it tonight!

Willie, you are so sweet! Yes, 35 was a while ago for me, but I'm very happy with where I am today. We'll all miss you tonight, but we hope to see you at the next one. Cheers!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
