I write fiction and poetry, but mostly fiction lately. Most of my creative work has been in the form of short stories or poems, but I'm definitely open to learning how to write longer works as well. I love to write about the sorts of soft-tissue damage we all accrue on a daily basis. The sort of quiet, mundane suffering of daily life. That sounds like a really depressing topic, but to me, it reflects the real nature of what's in the human heart. Wow, this is rambly. I've never been in a writing group before, but I've been in workshops in undergrad before.
I read that much-maligned and controversial pseudo-genre "literary fiction" mostly. I don't really read contemporary authors much, but sometimes I've been wowed before. I read eclectically, but what I LIKE is usually pretty centered on more literary, character-driven works.
