Intro to Roleplaying Games workshop

This is a one-time class or workshop where I teach noobs (anyone with limited or no experience whatsoever) how to play a traditional, paper and pencil, tabletop roleplaying game such as Dungeons & Dragons.

The genre is fantasy with bits of scifi and horror included. I'm planning on using the Swords & Wizardry RPG rules to run the game. Pre-generated characters will be handed out and explained at the session's start.

This event can accommodate 8 people (including myself)

Below is the classic module I'll be running: B4 The Lost City.  But don't go looking for it - that would only ruin the surprise!

I'm here but can't find the group and don't want to bother the staff with asking. I guess I will make one more pass but if I don't see anyone or get better directions here I may just leave?

Yeah, a sign or contact # would've both been very helpful. :) I also don't know that library very well, so I wasn't really sure where TO look!

Thanks, everyone! There's only so much that can be explored in a single session, but you guys did very well. The paper and pencil RPG hobby needs new blood (and hands). I'm more than happy to share my love for the game... time permitting. Volunteering as a DM is my way of giving back.

Frog God Games, the publishers of Swords & Wizardry RPG generously gave me 50% off on a bulk order of their hardcover complete rule books. I'm bringing several, so they'll be $20 for those attending (normally, they're $40). BTW, owning a book is totally optional. You won't need to bring or buy anything to play S&W.

I can do this if it is on a weekend, and I'd love to try it!

I work weird hours. I am usually done with work between 8-10pm every night, but have weekends off usually. I occasionally work those too. I just work a lot really.

    • Venger S.

Yeah, that makes it difficult sometimes. Especially since face-to-face roleplaying takes a block of time and multiple schedules syncing up.

I'll be there at 5:30 pm sharp to make sure the room is set up and introduce myself. Please try to be there, early or right at 5:45 as we'll jump right into playing at 6:00.

8:45 is when the library starts letting people know that they're closing, so I'll save the last 15 minutes for after-game questions.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
