Intro to D&D (B)

Learn how to play the latest and greatest version of Dungeons & Dragons! No experience required. Just bring your imagination. 6 players (7 people max, including me) only.

5th edition is coming! Both the starter box and free online basic rules will be released on July 15th, so this is pretty much your first available chance to experience D&D at its most cutting edge, streamlined, and innovative.

Fifth edition has been touted as super-easy for new and veteran players, with little setup time so it's straight to the action. Especially, since I'll be using the pre-generated characters that go along with the starter box introductory adventure.

I'll actually be running back to back games at the Madison Central Library, study room #111. This meetup is for the second two hours of the night (6:30 - 8:45pm). I'm scheduling it that way for a couple reasons - I anticipate high demand and space is limited. Also, smaller groups work better. Especially since this is an introductory session for paper & pencil, tabletop roleplaying game noobs and those familiar with RPGs who want to see what 5e is all about.

I really enjoyed this. I never played D&D much before, but does anyone know of any groups around town who need players, who are open to newbies?

These guys also did an awesome job of roleplaying. I really couldn't be any happier about the 5th edition D&D demo. Thanks, everyone!

Given current work, this would be the one for me to go to, though it looks like you have your 6 players already. Grrr. Possible to just silently observe? Nah, space would likely be tight. And I may be too exhausted and stand the whole time so I wouldn't snore...annoying in either scenario. I hope both gatherings go well for you this night. ;)

You never know. There might be a couple no-shows. Might as well come along and see.

Sorry to bail... Found out I have to travel for work that week, disappointing. Have fun!

That's too bad, but I fully understand. Hopefully next time.

Feel like getting a jump start on the rules? Sometimes, it's better to just start playing without knowing any of the game mechanics. It depends on the person. For those curious, here's a link to the free online "basic" version of D&D 5e:
