How do you relate to the term "geekery" or "geek"?

I think I'm more of a nerd (having studied Latin), but I do relate to the "freaks" and "geeks" in Freaks and Geeks, so perhaps I have some geek tendencies. I was obsessed with Star Trek when I was a kid. I have a preference for a certain Doctor Who (10). Oh, and I have a Yoda mouse pad.

What are some of the activities that you enjoy doing? (You may wish to share, in particular, any that might be considered geeky.)

Writing poetry and short stories, photography, painting, screen printing, collage, reading, recording music, watching movies, hiking, rollerblading, pickleball, ping-pong, tennis, gardening, meditating, yoga, flashlight tag.

What are a few of your favorite things? (Book titles, games, places, movies, tv shows, restaurants, band names, brown-paper-packages-tied-up-with-string, etc.)

Freedom, A Wrinkle in Time, The Giver, Disgrace, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Out Stealing Horses, Ishmael, Caucasia, Marge Piercy, Rilke, e.e. cummings, H.D., Nikki Giovanni, Caryl Churchill, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Thich Nhat Hanh, literary Tibetan, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Once, Annie Hall, Brokeback Mountain, American Beauty, Modern Times, Network, Blade Runner, Studio Ghibli, Mad Men, Ugly Betty, The IT Crowd, David Tennant, Flight of the Conchords, Rivers Cuomo, Dhani Harrison, Robert Johnson, Wilco, Radiohead, Cat Power, Deerhoof, The Taste Buds, Mono, Fleet Foxes, Lykke Li, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, XTC, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Bob Dylan, Etta James, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Satie, Beethoven, Mozart, nerdcore, ocarinas, Picasso, Carrie Mae Weems, Ansel Adams, Romare Bearden, Warrington Colescott, veganism, Brendan Brazier, Ian Somerhalder, Pure Citizen, Vaute Couture, cats, Arboretum, Green Party, Cats Will Eat You, Danger Havok, open-mindedness.

In joining Geekery, what type of meet-ups are you hoping to find? (Gaming, evenings out, new restaurants, trivia, movies, outdoor stuff, museums, etc.)

Word games, movies, trivia, book groups, museums, plays, music, gatherings in nature.

Introduction

I'm in denial that the Star Wars prequels exist. I love nonhuman animals; my job is devoted to them. My knowledge of APA style is vast. One of my fondest memories is learning about the library; I couldn't believe I could get so many things for free.
