Chick Singer Night

Long before the Lilith Fair, there was Chick Singer Night. Started in 1988 by a Chicago singer and songwriter, Lori Maier, the women's cross-genre talent showcase spread to 15 cities, from Boston to Stockholm. The point isn't to get together and pat established singers on the back, but to provide women musicians just starting out with full band support and a welcoming performance environment for a few songs. Madison joined the Chick Singer Night phenomenon this past December, led by local folk-rocker Beth Kille. A live band behind 5 different Ladies has not presented other than great performers in the year since Beth Kille started hosting it.

Still one of the very best venues and most entertaining performances imaginable, here or anywhere. The 6 guest performers along with Beth Kille, the hostess, were all exceptional. The established 'Chick Singer Backup Band' drew raves as well, especially Dan Kennedy on guitar and Jaye Barbeau on keys. Six times a year for this endeavor is not enough.

This was an awesome venue. Each singer had her own style and type of music. I was partial to Ida Jo because my daughter plays the violin. I plan on going back to The Brink on Dec. 15th to see Ida Jo perform again, if anyone is interested I'd be happy to meet you there!

Great show! My favorite was Ida Jo. Her next show is Dec. 15th - an early show. Check her out at http://www.idajoandtheshow.com.

This was my first Chick Singer event and I thought it was excellent. It was wonderful to hear those women open their souls to us through their music and wow - Lindsay Evans was great!
