Long before the Lilith Fair, there was Chick Singer Night. Started in 1988 by a Chicago singer and songwriter, Lori Maier, the women's cross-genre talent showcase spread to 15 cities, from Boston to Stockholm. The point isn't to get together and pat established singers on the back, but to provide women musicians just starting out with full band support and a welcoming performance environment for a few songs. Madison joined the Chick Singer Night phenomenon this past December, led by local folk-rocker Beth Kille. A live band behind 5 different Ladies has not presented other than great performers in the year since Beth Kille started hosting it.
