Caveman Fest

Just throwing an idea out there. Picnic point has campfire spots that can be reserved for free(not sure exactly how, maybe someone on here does?). But instead of going to restaurants and trying to find food that everyone can eat why don't we all bring some food to share and cook over a campfire. Would have probably been a little better a month ago but hey cavemen ate in the cold too right? Besides it's not that cold yet and we have the power of fire.  Plus we could do it during the day. I could bring some venison (sorry fresh out of mammoth), and I stopped drinking coffee awhile ago but I'd be happy to cook up some serious campfire coffee if anyone wants to bring some fresh coffee.

And if people want to wear caveman attire to make it more festive that'd be great too. I'll just skip shaving. ;)

Any thoughts from the group? Ugh?

Plus they have free firewood and it should be a good meeting for conversation.

Great food, great conversation! The goose, salmon and venison were delicious. Any foodie, paleo or otherwise would have had a great time.

This turned out to be an awesome meetup with a good turnout and a bountiful feast to boot! Including venison, goose, salmon, bok choy and grilled mushrooms. One thing for sure is nobody left hungry. Hope more people can make it the next time.

It was a great time! It was nice to put some faces to names, and the food was fantastic. We had venison, salmon, goose, and roasted mushrooms and vegetables.

I'm going to head there a little early and just grab the first fire spot that's near some firewood and to my liking. I'm bring paper plates, plastic forks/spoons, a knife, prongs, and cutting board. I wasn't sure what we would need so I decided to bring it all. See you guys there shortly.

It all sounds so delicious, but i still havent shaken this cold, so I would be miserable company. My tea and cough drops just won't compare...have fun!

Awesome it's starting to sound like we're really going to have a good meal here! Is anyone not familar with picnic point? I'm wondering if we should meet in the parking lot or if we should meet at one of the campfire spots? I'm not too worried about reserving a spot as I don't think that at this time of year and that time of day that anyone will be using them anyway. Does anyone have a preference for which spot we go to? Either way if someone can't find the place or us I can be reached at [masked].

Hi guys, I can bring a salmon or trout. I'll wrap it in foil and cook it on the grate that Nate brings.

In addition to the venison, I'll also bring some wire grates to use over the fire for cooking, and salt and pepper.

Sounds like a great idea. I can bring baby bok choy, portobello mushrooms and zucchini to grill up. I've converted several of my friends to the paleo lifestyle, so maybe I can talk them into coming as well.
