Here are some of the lessons learned from the latest Meetup:
- Have events scheduled in advance. Some people came expecting to play their own character, which is VERY old school, but that didn't work out. By having events scheduled in advance, people know what to expect. I really would like to see enough players and referees for two or more simultaneous games.
- Make sure there is a break between games. This will allow for getting lunch, snacks, coffee, caffeine, etc.
- Having promo materials is a good thing. In particular, we need more signage to help attract new members. I hope that the CD-ROMs are cool; I'll be making up some labels to identify them.
- Getting the date set for the next Meetup ahead of time would help things out. This will involve some scheduling and planning, but shouldn't be too hard.
What would be really good is for members to promote the group
to their friends. If you had a good time Saturday, let other people know - we'll get more gamers this way and have more fun!
