Doctor Who Mid-Season Premiere

Fellow Whovians,

The Doctor is back! I have reserved the Bamboo Lounge for that night in order to watch our favorite alien return with new episodes. The Lounge receives BBC America (east coast feed) and it will premiere at 8 pm. I propose we get together early to get into the mood.

During the last two months, BBC America has run specials on each Doctor that has ever appeared and I have recorded the first two. Each is about 40 minutes long (with commercials) and I propose we watch each one in order to get ready for the main course.

I propose the following agenda for the evening:

5:30-6:15 pm: Arrival, socializing and order food

6:15-7:00 pm: First Doctor Special

7:00-7:15 pm: Break

7:15-8:00 pm: Second Doctor Special

8:00-9:00 pm: Doctor Who Mid-Season Premiere

Once again members, I ask that we buy food/drink from our patron since the room came at no cost to us. The have treated us well and I want to make sure they continue to welcome us back since I am going to propose we get together every other week or so to watch new episodes.

Take care, looking forward to brand new episodes and I'll see you all on March 30.

    Dear Whovians,

As you well know, Saturday is the return of our hero. Since we already have a full house, I want to encourage all of our members to re-confirm their reservations. If you are not going to be able to make it, please change your RSVP to No as soon as possible and allow those on the waiting list to attend.

Also, our leader Kristine is also hosting a viewing at an alternate location as another possible venue for members to attend.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday and as the Doctor would say, "Geronimo!!!"

Long time coming ... receiving the Peabody :-)

    Dear All,
Dr. Who (the series) has just won a Peabody Award. (This award is one of the most prestigious awards for all things intelligent; it used to be a award solely devoted to excellence in journalism.)

    “Doctor Who” (BBC America)

    The BBC Cymru Wales

Seemingly immortal, 50-years-old and still running, this engaging, imaginative sci-fi/fantasy series is awarded an Institutional Peabody for evolving with technology and the times like nothing else in the known television universe.

I'm only on series 1 (2005), so is this a decent, or a horrible, ep. to jump in on? Not having BBC America I could just lag indefinitely on DVD or streaming, but that doesn't seem as fun as watching it with fans.

    March 22, 2013

    • Kristine

Hi, Kevin! My guess is the two episodes you should see prior to the mid-season premier are "Asylum of the Daleks" which was the first episode of Season 7 and the 2012 Christmas special, "The Snowmen". Those should set the stage for the new episode. BBC America is doing a Doctor Who marathon on Saturday, so check your local listing!

John, are we moving this meetup earlier because of the BBCA feed at Bamboo?

    March 24, 2013

    • John

Dennis, not this one. I already have plans until 5 pm this Saturday. Future new episode meetups I'll try to arrange for an earlier time.
