I was born in Aliquippa, PA, what used to be a small steel town about 11 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. I now live in Los Angeles.
I speak Hungarian after a fashion. I studied it for a year [masked]) at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA when I was in the Air Force, used it in my job, and lived in Szeged for a year in the early 1980s.
I work at UCLA as an administrative analyst. For fun, I like swimming, watching sports on TV, politics, and hanging out at the UnUrban Cafe in Santa Monica. I also enjoy attending the UCLA German Club's Stammtisch every Thursday.
I am not a native speaker of Hungarian, but at one time my Hungarian was good enough to communicate fairly fluently when I was there. I wouldn't mind getting together from time to time with speakers of Hungarian to practice.
Just first rate. I had done things before with the German-language Los Angeles Meetup group, but this was my first outing with the Hungarian-language Los Angeles Meetup group and it was just delightful. Pleasant and interesting people with whom it is enjoyable to interact. The time really flew by.
