The Main Line Writers Group commitment to you is to offer opportunities that expand your skills as an author. That means providing educational opportunities including high quality presenters on topics related to the art of writing and publishing, as well as an environment where you can share your successes and challenges, and even get feedback on your work. In late 2013, we published a book, Unclaimed Baggage, showcasing members' writing.
Since the January 2014 meeting, we have been talking about next projects for the membership. Our next project is a weekly blog which offers authors a place to publish work and hopefully find a new, expanded audience. If you previously expressed interest, your name has been slotted below. If you haven't yet responded but want to participate, please contact me so I can add you to the official register. I hope that everyone in the group will take a few minutes each week to check out the posting from fellow group members.

BLOG PARTICIPATION DETAILS
The Blog Schedule (so far)
POST DATE- is the date your piece will be posted
AUTHOR - Author of the post piece
REVIEWERS - Two authors who review the piece before it is posted
SUBMIT - Date by which you submit your piece to reviewers
REVIEWS - Date by which reviewer should return comments to author
Authors participating agree to meet their scheduled review and publication dates. If you wish to change dates, make a swap with another author and the associated reviewers. If you change the dates, it is your responsibility to inform everyone affected including GaryZenker who will adjust the schedule after you have made all notifications.
You must be a paid member of the group to participate.
Purpose: The Blog is to serve as a tool to help members of the group hone their skills and find an additional audience for their collective work by leveraging f the borrowed interest of those interested in your peers’ work.
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
What are the restrictions on content etc? You can use nearly any genre (no erotica, please, although stories where erotica is part but not the main function of the piece is fine). Your piece can be any length up to 1,000 words but realize that people are accustomed to shorter pieces in a blog. Keep in mind that the closer your piece comes to 1,000 words, the less likely people are to read it.
Can I publish a non-fiction piece like a review? Yes.
Can graphics be included? Yes but... you need to have the right to use the graphics. You can't just grab things from the web. I will ask you about the rights before any graphic is posted.
Who owns the rights to the pieces published on the blog? The author owns the piece. You are merely authorizing the blog to publish it.
Can it be a second (or third or....) publishing of the piece? Yes, you can publish it as long as you have the rights to republish the piece. If you aren't sure, ask the original publisher or talk to Gary Zenker who may be able to help you.
Can a piece be rejected after being reviewed by the assigned reviewers? Yes. My job is to keep the group and you as an author out of trouble. This is not a platform to embarrass or otherwise attack people or things. Also, if a determination is made that the piece is really not ready for publication, you may be asked to continue to work on it until it is.
Why just once posting a week? Frequency and consistency are key to building an audience. I am open to additional submission postings but I want to establish a reliable Main Line Monday schedule (thanks Tony for the name!) and make it a forum for many as opposed to just a few writers.
