Maine Acoustic Music Players meetup @ 27 Pub!

Join us for an acoustic jam at the 27 Pub in Wiscasset, Maine. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. You will see us as soon as you walk into the pub!

The 27 Pub serves delicious food and drink! The Italian cuisine is excellent and their pizza is amazing! All 27 Pub's food is made with fresh ingrediants. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until it's time to leave...that's up to the owner! Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We try to get through all of the requests, some of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

The 27 Pub has free Wi-Fi so you can be a laptop or other device to access the setlist.

If you don't have a laptop or iPad,please be sure to make copies of the songs that are on the setlist and bring them with you to the meetup. A music stand is helpful but optional.

Had a great night! lots of new stuff going on. New tunes and new folks to meet. Sorry for sitting in the back like I do but there are many new chords and strum patterns that I am trying to learn & adapt to and my little "privet space" helps me get through.

Put a guitar in my hands and a chance to meet new friends and I can't help but have a good time. I had barely touched my guitar in a year and a half so thanks to MAMP for getting me backin the groove. Thanks, Pete

Some difficult songs but all in all Mark's electric piano made the evening special, as did Charlie joining us, having Soxna back and being joined again by Joe and Pete! Great rendition of Layla unplugged! Finally, Thank you Liz and Chris for joining us tonight with your Fiddle and Mando!

I second all of that! It was great to meet Charlie, Mark and Pete, and to reunite with Joe and Angelo. It was a special treat to sing a couple of my old favorites with Liz and Chris leading us all. Thanks Angelo for bringing us all together and for working so hard to make the songs and chords available to all. Looking forward to next time!

Well, the one I downloaded from the site is in 'C'. No problem, I've already changed my setup for that song from 'B' to 'C' (I just +1 on both the piano and the horn parts)... it's certainly a lot easier for guitars in 'C'!

Hi Mark! Check out the Setlist, I think I have "For No One" in the correct key! Also Soxna, yes, "The Weight" will always be played, it's on the semi-permanent list and to concur with Mark...it's a dynamite song!
    See everyone soon!

Ah! For No One. Original key is actually 'B', I can transpose to 'C'.
I'm certainly not tired of The Weight, Soxna! Great song.

Are people tired of "The Weight"? I am still interested in working on it. Also definitely "Did she mention my name" and any other Gordon LIghtfoot. Dink's song and Sweet City Woman, and Simon and Garfunkel's Homeward Bound.

    OK Folks!
Thanks to our fearless leader Alan Z, the Setlist is back to normal! Just requires a couple of extra steps on the old pc, but it's ALL GOOD!!! Thanks for your patience!

Hope to make it. No promises, unfortunately...

I'm going to bring my 61 key Fantom and a VERY tiny amp, instead of a bass this week. There are SO MANY great songs on the master list which really need keyboard. We can start with A Whiter Shade Of Pale.... Harvest... Locomotive Breath... it's endless. Basically, whatever needs keyboard, strings, horns, flute, sitar... we can do.

    Angelo,

Last week we talked about Layla (unpluged version). I printed out the tabs and lyrics. I will try to practice it this weekend and maybe we could give it a go. Also I have the tabs and lyrics to Kodachrome (Paul Simon). I do know this song. Perhaps we could try this one as well.

Regarding the songs for Monday night. I spoke with my friend Alan, who started NJAMP, and he told me he is having a similar problem with the songs. So what we have to do is go to our DropBox files, copy the URL and then paste it onto the setlist page. To open the file highlight the link, then right click, you will see a dropdown box open, you will see a link,"Go to www.dropbox..." left click and you should see the song page! This will have to do until we adjust the song file issue with Meetup or I can somehow create my own DropBox folder and share it with you.
In the meantime, please go to the song files and pick out what you would like to play Monday night and post it in this thread.
Sorry for all the hassle, but eventually it'll get straightened out...should be the worst we have to deal with!

I'm the only one who can access the original DRopBox files, they belong to NJAMP, the group I previously belonged to before moving up here. The setlist is on the left side of this page, "Setlist". Click on it, you should see the list. Songs are in the, "Song Files" right above setlist.

If you use a mouse on your pc, or even if you just have a laptop or any such device, you should be able to right click anyone of them!

Hey everybody! It seems like ever since Meetup got hacked a number of song files have been corrupted. I'm trying different ways to get the setlist together so if it looks wacky you'll understand why.

    • Sockna

Thanks for dealing with this Angelo!

Reminder to one and all! Select a song or two or three from the song file and list them in this conversation post. I will place them on the setlist for Monday!
I'm really glad Meetup was able to get us back on line after that cyber attack! See you soon!
