Maine Acoustic Music Players meetup @ 27 Pub!

Join us for an acoustic jam at the 27 Pub in Wiscasset, Maine. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. You will see us as soon as you walk into the pub!

The 27 Pub serves delicious food and drink! The Italian cuisine is excellent and their pizza is amazing! Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until it's time to leave...that's up to the owner! Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We try to get through all of the requests, some of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

The 27 Pub has free Wi-Fi so you can be a laptop or other device to access the setlist.

If you don't have a laptop or iPad,please be sure to make copies of the songs that are on the setlist and bring them with you to the meetup. A music stand is helpful but optional.

Great fun. Each week I get to play many songs I know and learn new ones as well. Either way, I enjoy ever it all.

Small but powerful group! Mark brought his fiddle and mando, and I learned a couple of excellent new songs! Thanks to Peter and Charlie for some great tunes!

Sorry, I won't make it tonight.

It may be a little late to get these in tomorrow, but a few songs in the Song File I've done many times are "The Letter", "Don't let the sun catch you crying", and "End of the World". Another (I didn't find this one in the Song File) is "Ferry cross the Mersey" another great Gerry and the Pacemakers tune.

What a great song. Is it just strummed or fingerpicked. That one is probably a bit too advanced for me. Maybe ill just come watch before committing. Haha

Guitar is strummed, picked parts are handled by the mando. It isn't technically difficult, once you have a sense of the rhythm and the pattern. Come try it out, you might be surprised!

For those looking at "Battle Of Evermore", the "(F)" designates the female voice lines... Soxna?

      I"ll take a look. Thx

Thanks for all the work on those songs Mark! I have posted them onto the setlist for all! Now , I have to keep listening to them to become familiar with the how they're played.
Hey everybody, let's pick some songs!

How about Steeleye Span's "Hard Times Of Old England"... another good mando tune. I can send chord sheets if you like.

Looks like I can make at least one more session before being all-consumed by Hair!
If so, I'd like to add Battle Of Evermore... if we have a female to sing the woman's part! I know it's not on the master list... but a GREAT mandolin tune!

Sounds great. It'll probably be more like end of April or beginning of may. I live up there seasonally. And this season seems never ending. But, I will attend at some point for sure

Technically MA. But most of winter in SC. Next year it'll just be SC from nov-may then may-nov in Maine. No more MA

Joining our group is a great way to become more experienced. We meet up every two weeks, as you see our next meet up is on the 24th! Hope to see you then and welcome aboard!

    March 14, 2014

  • Jeff S

I am very inexperienced. Is that ok? Also, how often do you meet up?

    March 13, 2014

  • angelo

Definite bummer, I understand but hope you won't have to!

    March 12, 2014

  • Mark M.

We may be adding Mondays into our Hair rehearsal schedule, so I may be out of commission through April 19.
