Maine IM Social...

Let's get together for a pint (or soda) and talk about what we want this group to be about.

Thanks to those who could attend. For those who couldn't... we had a few drinks and talked shop for a couple hours. Things broke up around 8.

What should this group be about? This is what we discussed:

    - Seminars: Presentations on specific IM topics. Many members are new to IM so the level of conversation should be inclusive of those just getting started.

    - Round-Tables: Hardcore problem solving. Those of us actively involved in IM projects would like a forum to put problems on the table and have others brainstorm solutions. These would be advanced discussions but anyone is welcome.

We felt meetings should be once a month, on a Tuesday evening, and always followed by informal socializing/ networking/ drink. The same Tuesday every month would make it easier for folks to plan.

Personally, my office is directly upstairs from Gritty's in the Old Port and we can make space available to meet (followed by a going back downstairs to the bar).

    Thoughts?

I think it's a great idea to keep the meetings regular - Tuesdays, aside from last night, work great for me. Looking forward to meeting you all on the next go around.

Chris, I appreciated the approach you plan to take for these meetings. It provides everyone with a little of what they hoped to get substantively and an opportunity to network. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone last evening and look forward to the next one.

I have a meeting before this up the street and as a result will arrive about an hour early so I will watch for the tables to the right of the bar to open and then act like a bag lady and stack things all over them.

I'm looking forward to tonight. Let's try to grab a couple tables to the right of the bar when you walk in. I'll bring a 8.5" x 11" hot pink piece of paper and put it on the end of the table so you know which group is us.

I see this as an informal meet & greet. Let's come ready to talk about what aspects of IM we have the most experience with, what we're finding works, and what we think should be working but isn't.

After tonight, we can regroup here online to discuss future meetups, be it more informal socials, more structured meetings on particular topics, or some combination.

    See you tonight!

Thanks David. I'll post a summary of the meetup on Wednesday and we can use this forum to plan any follow-up. Save travels.

    Hi Chris,
wanted to say hello and look forward to meeting the group. Are there any musicians in the mix?

Welcome Dave. I look froward to meeting you. Not sure about musicians. We'll have to see if any surface.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
