Bookbinding: Make a beautiful notebook

Learn to make beautiful notebooks in time for Christmas!

We have been inspired by Emma and will show you how to make a little notebook that would cost you a few pounds in materials but looks like a high end notebook you could easily spend a tenner on in a shop!

This is a three hour workshop and all materials will be provided in the cost. However, if you would like to make your notebook more personal, you may like to bring along the following:

  1. Approx A3 size patterned fabric (e.g. cotton, viscose, silk) for the cover
  2. Approx A3 size patterned paper (see photo) for the inside cover

How to get there: The location is the Wickham Room in Bishop Creighton House, Lillie Road near Charing Cross Hospital. It's a short bus ride from Hammersmith (Bus 220 from Stop: M towards Wandsworth)

This should be a great way to work together and make some fantastic notebooks!

Very good. Maybe needed a bit more time for beginners to give a proper finish to their work, but fun and creative.

You can get 295 bus from Hammersmith station as well as 220. Venue is on the lefthand side after the hospital as Lillie Road bears to the left...

I would love to join you for the bookmaking session but I live in
Sydenham in SE London and as I am disabled would have to get a
cab which would be very expensive. Any ideas about a similar craft
project more local to me? Will this session be repeated? I made
three little books yesterday and would love to do more. I use a
wheelchair so the venue has to be'wheelchair friendly'. Does anyone live in my part of the world and be interested in getting
together for a crafty couple of hours. There don't seem to be any
groups for disabled people - despite having trawled the net for
hours!!!! Any ideas? My flat is not big enough to run a group from
here. Hope you enjoy the afternoon. Jilly

you might get multiple replies from me - I am better at crafts than I am with computers!. Would love to join a group but seems to be little available for people with disabilities which is a shame cos I have lots of enthusiasm and some skills. Keep in touch. Have been to the library but nothing there. have searched the net.

Hi Jilly, sorry you can't join us as the venue is wheelchair accessible. If you find a venue and want to set something up, we'd be happy to promote it to Make and Do members. You could also display a poster in your local library or online community website. Good luck.

Thanks for replying. There seems to be little available for people with disabiltities - despite loving everything
