Make and Do Message Board › Make & Do: an info-stashed newsletter
It was great to meet some of you at our recent Show 'n' Tell at Royal Festival Hall. It's clear that the group is full of talented people and I can't wait to see the different meetups you end up planning. We've already got a cross stitch one coming up, which is great. I've got quite a few things to tell you so this has turned into a newsletter!
Following the Show 'n' Tell, I thought I'd put together some guidelines to help you plan your own meetups. It really isn't as hard as you think. Even if you can't do a craft and you'd like to try one, look out for people who do have that talent and invite them to teach it at a meetup that you agree to host! You can do this via the Message Board or face to face at a meetup. You can find the guidelines on the Message Board here.
Want to be on TV?
I sometimes get odd emails and I thought I'd pass this one on:
We're looking for people to take part in a brand new TV show and I'd really appreciate it if you were able to forward the below info and attached documents onto any of your members who you think might be interested. 'Is It Just Me?' sees comedian Micky Flanagan plus four celebrity guests present a feature-packed entertainment showcelebrating the bizarre opinions we have, the weird things we think, the ridiculous things we do, and the embarrassing things we think about doing! We're looking for a select few people to be part of our very own Is It Just Me? special Audience Panel.
We're recording the pilot show on 26th February 2012 – so if you're free and would like to take part and think you could help make this show a memorable one we'd love to hear from you! Auditions start next week so email us NOW on Getinvolved@zeppotron.com for more information.
Craft book offer
To celebrate the release of Tapestry: A Woven Narrative, we would be delighted to offer Make & Do members a 40% discount on all orders for this book.
Tapestry: A Woven Narrative is a review of contemporary tapestry design, discussing the progression from early designs to tapestry production today. The book investigates the current tapestry scene, in which weavers and artists across the globe have begun appropriating the medium to present their work and ideas in a previously unexplored fashion, creating a fascinating juxtaposition between the socio-cultural documentation of many historical works and the more abstract and contemporary themes often dealt with in tapestries today. To order at the discounted price, simply email email@example.com with your delivery address and the book will be despatched with an invoice.
Get paid to Lead and Mentor young people this summer
If you're looking for some paid work over the summer, you might be interested in the roles with The Challenge youth programme. I have to declare an interest as I work for the charity! But it really is a worthwhile and amazing opportunity to work with a diverse range of sixteen-year-olds from your local neighbourhood. Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested! Pinterest - the best social network out there?
I came across this site at a recent social networking workshop and it seems to be built for craftsters! Basically, it's an online pin board where you can put all the fun stuff you find on the internet. It's one of the fastest growing platforms right now and is about the only one which has more female than male users. Check it out: www.pinterest.com
Well, that's all for the moment. Keep using the discussion boards and let me know how you get on!
