Welcome to the Hartford Makers Show-n-Tell Party!

What better way to get to know each other than to hear about what we're working on, or what we want to work on?

We'll start the meetup at 6 with talks beginning about 6:30pm and take a short break before the really fun stuff, the Show-n-Tell about 7:15.

If you'd like to share you idea or project with the group please send me a message and based on the number of submissions we'll figure out the way to order them (or pick from a hat).

The location for this meetup is The Hartford Public Library. We will be meeting in the upstairs classroom (same location as when we met before). The website has additional details: http://www.MakeHartford.com

Please forward this invite to anyone you know who may be interested in joining this group.
See you there!

One of my persistent comments is that presenters don't give their contact information, preferably on the Meetup website BEFORE they speak. That way I can check their website and come prepared to make constructive comments.

I like to see TEDtalks type presentations. Bring a Powerpoint or some audio/video. State short term problems and long term goals. Specifically, ask "what can this group do to help you"?

Coming from the West Coast and competing with Japan, China and India, I favor globalization. I see a lot of focus on Connecticut or regional topics. Here are 3 emerging concepts. 1) 3D printing, bigger like a car engine and smaller like a nano-machine. 2) Gene splicing. My Son wants a python which has firefly genes that makes its skin glow in the dark. Why not? 3) Crowd sourcing. Venture capital firms are looking for mega deals but many projects could use smaller amounts of risky capital from 100s or 1000s of investors. - CarlD[masked]

Hi Carl - We normally meet in a room with projectors and whiteboards at the Academy of Math and Science and have featured some pretty cool interactive projects (though I do say so myself).

We are just now starting to creating a loose agenda ahead of meetings and can post this on the Google Group ahead of our Show-n-Tell events.

In the future we can remind folks to write their contact info - including email address and website urls on the board to be posted on the Google Group and Blog sites in the notes from the evening.

      Good feedback.
      Thanks.

Hi Everyone. Sorry for the late venue change. We will be meeting upstairs. I'll try to have some signs posted to direct people, and you can always ask the guard or people at the desk.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
